It's these kind of people that are going to ruin it for all of us...

Tonight I took my Mom grocery shopping, and as we were walking down the cereal aisle of Meijer (large chain supermarket in michigan, a little more upscale that walmart) this guy, probably late 20's early 30's comes around the corner with his girlfriend/wife, holding a box mod of some sort in one hand and a bottle of juice in the other, then proceeds to take a huge hit and blow a huge cloud, fogging out part of the aisle for a few seconds. There were a couple other shoppers in the area and I didn't see their reaction, but I was a little disgusted- not at the vapor, which smelled like vanilla or something as we walked through it, but that he didn't even try to hide it. I mentioned to my Mom a few minutes later that "those" kind of people are going to ruin it for everybody. Not an appropriate place for blowing clouds- not that there are any rules against it, but still, have some courtesy for others. Not everyone likes walking through clouds while shopping. I didn't object, however :) I had left mine at home after taking a few hits, and was fine until we got back- about an hour and a half. If I had gone by myself, I would have vaped in the car, but left it above the sun visor in the locked car while I shopped. No need to take it inside, even though mine isn't capable of producing thick clouds. The whole time we were in the store he carried it around in plain sight, even when he wasn't hitting it. Just an observation. No, there is no secondhand smoke, no horrid smell, and no messy ash, but it looks like smoke. That's all it takes for some people to complain.

Rude people usually are the ones who ruin it for the reasonable ones.
Those are the ones who make the impression on the anti vaping types and the media.

Not sure that I want to buy food that someones exhalation vapor had settled on. Wouldn't the vapor carry any germy things the person exhaled?

I won't leave mine in the car; I don't want it stolen, locking the doors is tiresome unless the area we're in warrants it, and the heat inside a closed car would make it leak. But I have this thing called a purse; it goes everywhere I do, with my vape -- usually at least 2 diff mods -- inside it. I may or may not use it, depending on my exact location and circumstances -- I have this thing called judgment, a/k/a discretion, which I apply in any situation. Time and place for everything.

I don't think you'll get much sympathy here anymore, last time i mentioned not vaping in stores I was jumped on and told it was their right to do so.

You just posted at the wrong time wrong day it might go a different way today. I always pick the side who is getting bashed in these threads so I can feel like everyone is out to get me.

Another one of these thread. Ok! Im game! Even if the guy weren't blowing clouds, you seem bothered by the fact he even had it in his hand~ out in the open.

I'm sorry but if I want to carry mine with me I will. There is no hard law that states vape gear must be left in a vehicle hidden from view while out 'n about.

I'm having a hard time understanding the scary thoughts people are having that says we have to act like sneaks (that's the impression I get).

This guy would've blown vapor anywhere; not just in the store you happen to be in.

Also when you say "those people" please keep in mind that ECF is but a tiny portion of the vaping community & he probably doesn't have a clue about legislation.

Educate rather than be offended.

I just think it's hilarious, because nothing said in any of these ubiquitous and interminable debates is going to affect whether or not I vape in any given situation -- it's ALLLLL situational. And it's kinda fun to watch folks start to froth at the keyboard about it.

Recently, on a scuba dive trip, I was vaping away on the back of the boat between dives. Back there with the diesel exhaust fumes, which are far more toxic than anything I was exhaling. There were no smoking signs posted on the boat. After about 30 minutes, one of the crew patted me on the shoulder and said you know, there is no smoking on the boat, I said, I know, I'm not smoking, and he smiled. Another diver asked me about vaping, he was a non smoker, and was genuinely curious. I explained to him my 32+ year addiction, and how I came to quit by vaping. I also explained what all is involved equipment and ingredient wise in my setup. He congratulated me on quitting, and said, well, keep on vaping wherever you want man. Good job on quitting the smokes. No one was offended, and no harm was done. I think sometimes, a positive can come from encounters with those who do not understand what we are all about. It all depends on how things are handled and presented. Granted, such an opportunity would unlikely present itself in a grocery store environment, but hiding our vaping only confirms and reiterates the image that it must be bad...just thinking through the keyboard here...
