Someone above said something that makes sense in that coffee and other risk activities are not used in premium calculation, so why should vaping ? vaping after all, on presently known research is no more harmful for you than caffeine or other legal substances which are not taking into account.

Depending on the company and type of life insurance you want to get, stuff like occupation and activities can effect the rate offered. Caffeine has never been shown to cause premature death so I can't see a downside there. Alcohol use, certainly heavy use (history of DUIs, rehab, abnormal liver tests) can also change ratings and premiums, including denial to even offer the policy of you still consume alcohol.

It all comes down to the type of policy. A low benefit cheap 1 year term insurance policy can have very loose requirements. A high benefit whole life insurance policy will be pretty careful in the rate they end up offering you after they review your info and even have a physical exam along with blood and urine tests done. Same for long term disability insurance too.

Yes, in time vaping and specific testing to be sure you are only vaping may change the risk standards applied. But it's not there yet.

It is there now, but it is limited. It seems that only one insurance company (big name) offers specific testing and lower-cost insurance for vapers.
