Probably my most adventurous (although not crazy to me) was a 2 week camping safari 35 years ago through game parks in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. It was a group tour of about 14 where we had to set up/break down camp and do all the cooking ourselves (with recipes and a bit of coaching from the guide) - piece of cake (actually no cakes but pudding).

In the parks we were always accompanied by an armed ranger who would sleep by the fire at night. Types of things to watch for were hippos walking through camp at night - on one midnight toilet break a hippo and I looked at each other and carried on our separate routes. And no oranges or other citrus fruits - elephants love them and can smell them from a distance- saw another camp where someone had oranges in the tent - luckily the tent was empty when the elephants found the fruit but the tent did not survive - the elephants were quite excited.

Canoeing down the river we learned to give the hippos a wide swath and keep a sharp eye for any that might be away from the main group. ABH - another bloody hippo became the phrase. One day we took a picnic lunch to a small island and had just settled in to eat when a herd of Cape Buffalo headed our way. We left.
Rafting down the Zambezi river with class 5 rapids was exciting. Somehow I managed to stay in the raft but we did haul a few others back in.
I did pass on bungee jumping from an old railway bridge in Victoria Falls.
And of course, all the wildlife - extraordinary.
Boma restaurant in Victoria Falls - ostrich, wart hog, crocodile, impala, edible insects and creepy crawlies - a definite culinary experience.

Camp life was fun although one guy occasionally woke us up with nightmares, a reaction to his malaria medication. Every thing had to be stowed away at night or the monkeys (and who knows what else) would have a feast. And there was the day we ran out of food and were extremely hungry for about 5 hours.

It was an incredible trip with great memories.

Probably the craziest thing I ever did was cross the street in Cairo - and I survived!
There are no rules. Although there may be crosswalks and lanes marked on the road they seem to be done in invisible paint.
I believe that there are mummified remains of tourists throughout the city who were waiting for that moment which never arrived to begin a dash across.

It counts!! Tell me about it!!
oh would love to hear her story! I know for me it was a thrill of a lifetime! I'd really thought Niagra Falls was much overhyped, but my sister and I decided to go there. We'd headed off for her step mother's house which was a 10 hr drive. We got there 3 days later cuz I was in the passenger seat with the AAA guide book. :D

Sitting at the base of the horseshoe falls with rainbows all around and the pounding water, I truly felt like I was sitting in the palm of God's hands!! I'll never forget

well..I already told you my craziest thing in Vegas..but if we,re talking crazy stories..one that really happened....
It was late summer up in Interior Alaska..the days of Summer were on their way out..with cruel Winter knocking at the door. Blueberry season was upon us..and I knew that if I didn't get out there one more time that window would be closed forever..or at least till next Summer. It started to rain..then it started to pour..it was freezing rain..but I was determined... decked out in a ridiculous day glow yellow rain pants with matching hooded slicker jacket . The berries were plentiful and despite the howling wind and unrelenting freezing rain I began scooping and picking berries like a mad man. I was also packing some heat... a 6" Ruger RedHawk named Vera...that I had borrowed from a friend...cuz everybody knows bears love blueberries too!!
..so I,m out there berry picking...middle of nowhere..àll by my self ..just Vera and me ..and the bears....it,s pouring ice cold rain ...in gale force winds...Just about the time I can't feel my fingers anymore, I decide I,m done and head for the car parked roadside about a quarter mile away...only when I get there..my fingers are so cold and frozen I almost can't get the key into the car door lock...i panic just a little...and it takes both hands to turn the key and unlock the door. As an EMT I recognize the signs of hypothermia...{ya think??!!}....my arms are frozen stumps, but I somehow manage to strip off my rain slickers...and start the car...kicking the heater into high gear....the car begins to warm...the feeling is starting to come back into my frozen hands and fingers...that,s when I notice...despite the dayglow slicker...that I,m soaked to the bone...With some fast thinking I remember my training..and begin to strip off all my wet clothes...I find that old sweatshirt in the back seat...and begin the long drive back home. Just then a funny thought occurred to me.."Gee...I sure hope I don't get pulled over by the cops...cuz all I'm wearing is a sweatshirt."..and I DO mean..all I was wearing was a sweatshirt!!
WHen lo and behold..what appears in my rearview mirror but an ALaskan state trooper vehicle.!! OMG!
MY thoughts begin to race!..How to explain this!..HOw could I possibly explain away how I was out berry picking...in gale force winds...with a badaaa Ruger Redhawk...driving commando..buck nekked from the waist down!!:shock::shock:
:vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor:
So..what could I do??!...What would YOU do??!
So I did the only thing I could...I drove as straight as my hypothermia would allow..and waited what seemed like an eternity for a turn out on that long windy desolate road. I was taking a chance ...praying...that the trooper wasn't interested in me...oh god at least I hope not!!...and that he would just fly right by this half nekked person in the vehicle in front of him...It seemed like an eternity....I held my breath..and said a prayer...oh please please please...THERE!..up ahead!!...I swung that old ricketty red Plymouth Neon..with the speedometer that didn't work!... sharply off to the right to the safety of that turn out....the troopers truck slowed behind me...no no no!!!....and then sailed on past me!!..Whew!!! That was a close one! My last blueberry hunt driving buck nekked in Alaska.
Wanna hear the one about the time I went out on Lake Erie..and all the way to Kelly's Island...and back...in the middle of a nor,easter....in a 14 foot aluminum fishing boat??

Approximately twenty years ago, I was in love with an angel that convinced me to take the summer off and go to Las Vegas with her. She danced and averaged about ten thousand dollars a week, I mostly drank and flirted with other dancers on the opposite end of town. We lived there for about eight months, and visited every penthouse in every hotel.

During our stay at the Stratosphere, we seemed to always make it home after the bar at the top was already closed, and I wondered if we would ever see it. Well one night I decided to step around the red velvet rope and call the elevator, and sure enough the door opened.

When we got to the top, we walked in to the bar to find four other people in there, one was making drinks. None of them looked like they worked there. We confidently said 'hi' and left the room and began walking around the tower.

At some point we stopped and leaned up against the angled glass window and soaked in the amazing view, then I got behind her and kissed her neck.

Without getting any more specific we did our thing and as soon as we were done four security guards approached us from two different directions. They asked us if we were supposed to be up there and I said something like 'I don't think so'. They asked if they could escort us back down to the casino and we obliged.

That's about the cleanest story I have from when I lived in Las Vegas.
