I'm sorry but I missed a lot of the chat in the meeting last night. (1/26/14) I had some concerns about the PACT act and the state of Oklahoma. Is their any way I can find the post from the meetings?

If you want a recording of the meeting, email me at board at casaa.org. If you want a chat log, that gets downloaded to your computer after the meeting (I think you have to set it up to save it.) CASAA doesn't keep a copy of the chat, but maybe a member who attended has a copy to share.

Is there a specific question about PACT/Oklahoma that I can answer for you here?

Yes thank you Kristin. Is Oklahoma included in the PACT. Still not sure about what it is. I've never run into any problems until I tried to order some Swedish snus online. Can't remember the vendors name but they will not ship to Oklahoma. Some other subjects were covered, that I wish I could have paid more attention to.
But alas I have to provide care for my Sweetie's mom after I get home. Like you never been to busy to pay attention.
I thought I heard about a clean air act for Oklahoma. This trying to order and Oklahoma has me concerned. I'm an employee of a shop that caters to vapers. This has me very concerned.
Also there was a Medical Professional saying something about people using tobacco and vaping and their results. (I think). I may be wrong.
If this is true then I would love to sign up and help with the study. The meetings go so fast I can't keep up.
And thank you for your precious time. Your a wonderful person as all the CASAA members.
When you get the bulk stuff for cards and flyers for business owners I'll buy it and tell the owner to suck it up. :)

The PACT Act is federal law, so it applies to Oklahoma. However, the PACT Act does not ban the shipment of tobacco products completely. It lays out tax procedures and bans using the US Postal Service to mail cigarettes. Tobacco may still be shipped via companies like FedEx and UPS. (Unsurprisingly, cigars are exempt.)

In spite of its name (Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act), the main goal was to stop the "blood loss" from people ordering tobacco products from states with lower taxes. It was all about the money (again, no surprise.)

I've been unable to figure out why snus retailers wouldn't ship to Oklahoma vs. any other state because of the PACT Act. It is likely due to specific state laws, but I couldn't find which law prevents online tobacco sales in Oklahoma. Have you tried contacting the retailer and just asking them? You may want to check out this ECF subforum (with a lot of knowledgeable snus users) and ask if they know the laws: Smokeless tobacco

If you are signed up for CASAA, you will get email alerts if anything comes up in Oklahoma at the state level. If you want local alerts, check your CASAA profile to make sure you've also checked the box for your state on the email list: Update My Profile/Email Address

Thank you Kristen. The smokeless tobacco forum you refer to is one of my favorite threads.
