Hey guys,
Okay so let me try to explain why we arent keeping the USB charging!
First of let me say it was the idea initially to get USB charging in it. However, we ended up walking a thin line between functionality and design.
The version you see me smoking in the video is roughly 15cm's long - from end of filter mouthpiece,to end of Baby J. This is a perfect size for it - it has a good physical dimension, and weight, and due to its design it appears smaller than it is.
However, the version im smoking has around 450-500 mAH. While this _could_ be enough, then the battery is NOT removable. This means that if the Baby J's battery dies ( as batteries do ) then the Baby J will die with it.
In order for us to make the battery unscrewable, and retain the USB charging, AND still only have 500ish mAH, we would have to jump up to 17 cms in total length. I thought this was too long, to be honest. It might not seem like alot, but it would be on a daily basis.
The solution we have opted for now, is a much more powerful battery, rated at 900 mAH ( with the option of putting a 1000 mAH battery in there ), and drop USB. While this might seem annoying then you have to consider it in a real world scenario:
We will most likely sell this with a charger that can handle two 900 mAH batteries, and charge those in 1-1.5 hours. Since the battery has 900 mAh, this would probably last you a full day of
vaping. If, however it dies on you, then you simply bring along the other battery. And since one battery would charge in around 1.5 hours, this means it will be very hard for you to ever not have a battery fully charged, and for you to be out of
juice!
If you then are to buy say 4 batteries, well, you get the picture.
So, even though USB can seem smart at times then we felt that the overall design and feel of the Baby J was the priority here: We wanted this to be something exclusive, something elegant, and cigar-like, something that gives you a feeling of luxury.
We might revisit the whole concept next year based on feedback, but as for now this is how it stays, so we hope you will accept this and support us in our decision to make it this way; it has not been easy to eliminate the USB feature - trust me!
You should also note that the 900 mAH battery is of a JS type equivalent, meaning its not an expensive battery to buy, so it should be easy to stock up on!
