I want to see an article about FREEDOM and the requirement, in a free country, to PROVE an overriding need to regulate in order to do so. It's not a question of if it being somewhat justified, they have to prove they have a right and responsibility to regulate that is greater than our rights to freedom. Our rights shall not be infringed without just cause. In overreaction, they are proving we are on right side; if it turns out as bad as expected, they will justify almost any action against them and be beyond compromise. We should make no concessions to them, they are the ones in the wrong, they need to realize this and FIX IT.
Congress created this problem with the
tobacco Control Act, so they need to realize they created the source of the problem and therefore have a responsibility here. They were almost surely manipulated by negotiations with big tobacco, who were no doubt far more aware of the threat to their business from e-cigs than anyone in Congress was of their existence at their time. The only thing BT lost from the TCA is having to make payments, while gaining an effective monopoly.
