OK, so I made a pair of coils out of that bailing wire!

Dude.... this was/is a challenging build!!!
The wire was easy enough to work with, but the coil was so fat I didnt think it was going to clear the chimney. And the wick is so fat the tails didnt tuck in the juice cups as loose as I would like.

I am going to vape it a while before I try to stick the probe in it. Oh, and it hits like a mule!

Resistance is dead on the money.

I set it to 470f, and a max of 45w and it never gets above 440f, and this is with 6-7 sec hits.

With preheat on at 75w:

With preheat off, about the same thing, just a longer ramp time:

Thanks 1M for this Mike.

What VG% are you using?
Baling wire lol

I keep the coils to the top of the posts, wraps between posts basically and tilt the upper connection wrap away from the perimeter slightly. They fit though.
I took an uppy closey picture.
Thickest wire possible to withstand the most rayon that'll pull through.
Then cut about half of the tails away so they'll fit in the deck res.
It's a balancing act.
It only takes 15ml of my bana cream pi to get to this point of gunkness.

50/50 mix.

It running hotter now, break in I guess.

And you use this thing while hiking..... Jeesh!
410F @ 50j or 50W hiking.
Hit it and quit it, no time for long pulls when I'm truckin.
Nobody got time fo busted teefs.

3mg 87VG too so way lower TH than what's hitting you.

    What resistance are those?

    Device 5 was a SubTank (KangerTech) with a 0.72 Ω bottom-coil-head.
The smoking regime was a puff every 30 s with 4-s duration and a volume of 55 mL collected using a “square” wave profile. 25 puffs per segment and at least 10min rest between segments. The SubTank was tested at 10, 15, 20 and 25W with the airflow wide open in all cases.

Back in 2011, the first post I read that referred to bottom feeders led me to think

    carp-love.jpg

Now that I understand, I guess some of us just love our bottom feeders, whatever type they are!:D
    I would post mine.

But wife frowns on posting her photo on the web.

Plus it wouldn't be as cute.

We're not quite as intimate as you 2. [emoji14]

Performance hasnt been stable enough for me to invest in probing it yet. I am going to rewick it with the 50% trimmed wick tails like you showed. Also going to switch it over to 90%vg 10% DW juice, and see if I get better repeatability out of it.

This is a "push the limits" kind of build. Until its stable in Device Monitor, I dont think its worth testing with the thermocouple, I wouldnt trust the results.

LOL, not much "road" between the coil and the chimney.

Back when I used to squonk all the time I really liked my Cyclone rda. It's pretty small at 17 mm OD and I always used it with dual coils. Ya only really need to miss the chimney .. close works just fine (once you get used to it) :)

Makes for a very saturated vape.

Enjoy yourself! Put the thermocouple down and get outside (if the weather is good).

Somehow I don't think that's what he has in mind when he goes to visit his remote GF. ;)

If it's nice enough out....yeah, he can ;)

Oh lord, I went there
