Thanks a bunch to everyone that was involved with this excellent test, especially Cool_Breeze and Rossum! From the results it looks like I made the right choice for myself in terms of price, taste, pepper and TH: Vapers Tek Throat Hit. I'm not a fan of completely invisible nics, including lack of pepper and TH. Just not enough physical cues for me to be able to keep from vaping too much nic. And the pepper and TH are part of what makes a nic satisfying to me. If all I had was VT TH forever, I would be just fine. And I am grateful that this is not the prevailing opinion of the majority of DIY people, who do want a completely invisible nic. This is what probably is keeping the cost of VT TH down, which is just fine with me.

But truly outstanding work here!

Well I feel like a d*ck.

I finally got all the stuff together this morning to do this, came here to make sure I had the parameters right, and apparently it's done and im the lone a hole.. Argh. Been working 2 jobs, I'm home long enough to sleep and grab food I can eat on the way back to work.

I'm very very sorry. Kudos to everyone else. From what I was reading and what I did before coming in here to look opinions seem to be pretty similar.

I am also in the minority in terms of preference for taste, pepper and TH in my Nic. Just curious to know how VT TH compares against MFS if you have ever tried it. MFS to me has some of the same qualities; but if VT is any stronger, I am inclined to go for it.

For Nicotine I prefer a 12 mg nicotine to vape like a 3mg. Once we find this nicotine nobody will need to worry about comparisons.
at 3mg nic the taste is vibrant without much throat hit.

* Just purchased MFS and its crap. The throat hit at a 6mg is Harsh flavor is not as pronounced they need to bring back the old mfs

... Just got a recent batch of nicselect vg nicbase. Crystal clear and no smell at all, except for that sting effect in the nose. I always put my nose directly down towards the bottle, just slight above the opening and take a couple of sniffs. The taste to me at 3mg is great like always; the well known damp-tobacco'y reminicent nutty flavor. I thought(or feared!) that it would be completelly invisible based on the sniff-test, but luckilly it wasen't. However, please don't be put off by that statement about nicselect, since for the first, then I have a really good sence of smell and taste, allways had, and second, then I actually suspect that this flavor would go nicelly with most flavors still and not only tobacco's, since it's not a "bad" tobacco taste, but a slight "dark richness" kinda type, instead of just simply "bland", which to me goes imenselly well with the natural sweetness of the vg, which almost makes for a caramel/hay kinda effect and which makes this "unflavored" vape just so good to me.

Some days ago I got a chemnovatic vg nic from molinshop in polen, and it didn't smelled like fish and amonia like the other chemnovatic vg nic I had from pink-mule in spain. Instead it just had the same smell like that of nicselect i.e. slight nutty smell(allthough my latest nicselect didn't smell of anything) and it also tasted like that of my nicselect described above. If I where doing a blind test, then I don't think I would be able to differentiate between those two at all, in fact i'm certain I wouldn't be able too. The chemnovatic nic from pink-mule had developed a slight "nicselect" taste in the 30 degrees celcius, but still a little lower than the molinshop chemnovatic and the nicselect.

My personal favorite is nicselect of the ones i've tried(eu vendors only), since to me it's very consistent and tastes of the same in each batch i've tried, but OK, it's only been about 3 batches or so yet :) Also, there transparency/tractability is phenominal imho, in that there's coa's for each batch available, and even coa's for alchem's dilluted batches additionally, which some vendors uses, like e.g. mine, so that I e.g. can see that my current nicselect 72mg/ml bottle includes a little over 73 mg/ml nic and that there's no extra added water and the specific density and production date etc. Now that to me is just simply freakin' awesome :)

Btw, I have nics from 4 vendors now in my dark closet, and I love that every time I need to make a new mix, then I can think to myself what i'm in the mood for trying that day, just like the regular flavor-chasing crowd are doing with there flavors instead of the nics.

However, i'm still pretty ...... off over not being able to compare notes with you guys on e.g. nudenic, xv, vz and mfs etc, but oh well, what can you do about our(my) stupid eu nic laws.

Lowering the PH of nicotine apparently mutes the harshness and throat hit. Not sure what it does to the taste. Using PaxLab's Juul nic (lowered PH), I notice way less throat hit than an equivalent nic % of other nic juice, but also a different sort of throat hit. I feel it not only in the throat, but also lower.

The MFS nic I bought in April tastes and smells like what I bought from them last summer. I hope it's not much different when I run out of it and order more in about 5 years.

I beg to differ. The MFS nic turned my blueberry cream into black liquorice and cream. Its really not that good my batch was from july 28th 2015

I bought a kit from the Juul website. They don't selll the juice separately, and I was only interested in the juice. But then I decided I liked the usual higher PH nic better, and that I like the device aside from it's proprietary foolishness. There's also Vermont Vapor selling lowered PH nic, but it's expensive and I haven't tried it.

Mine's April 21. Bought in April this year, but the year in the stamp is not legible. I also have a liter I bought at the same time, and stashed away, and haven't tried yet. I don't know the batch date of that one. I hope it'll be like the smaller bottle I've been vaping.

Somewhere out there
I have a sample of "USA Liquid Nicotine" coming in from Liquid Barn. It will be interesting to see how it stands up to these samples.

what did you think of the USA stuff?

( I'm sorry if I missed a posting already. )

The USA liquid nicotine is somewhat unique. It has a different taste to it, I can tell it's a different processing technique.. Maybe slightly chemical tasting or strong nicotine, or just the way its extracted tastes different. The taste isn't bad, just slightly rough... - which I like.

The th I think is one of the strongest of the bunch. The nicotine seems to hit you differently as well. I was buzzing more off the usa LN... Unless the bottle was quite a bit over 100mg, the nic seemed to absorb differently.

It is in my top three for nicotine flavor and strong throat hit.

It has the highest th of the 9 nics I've tried.

Buried in books
Been lurking this thread and just want to add my thanks to all participants.

I'm not yet DIYing but plan to in the future. This thread got me to try the unflavored 6mg 50/50 liquid I bought from Saturn Vapes a while back and I've found I actually do like it plain! Adding one drop of a flavor (which used to be my favorite and had gotten too strong to my taste) to my little 1ml tanklet created a very nice vape. Just imagine how long a 30ml bottle will last at that rate...

Meanwhile, I'll keep reading, building up my supply closet and am much closer to getting started now that the nic question seems to be answered for me thanks to all of your input. One thing I can cross off my list for now is flavorings. Don't think I'll need them.

Many thanks again to all and to Rossum and Cool_Breeze especially!

Year old WL, RTS, and MFS are nothing great to write home about if your looking for potent nicotine with flavor. None of them were bad at all, even the shelved WL was still clear and fine after a year! Maybe got a little stronger but that doesn't count toward comparison.

#1
Exc (nic select) has a very good nicotine flavor with decent th and really great pricing. I would say overall, for natural flavored nic with good th nic select is the overall winner based on clean natural taste and price.

#2
Usa LN is second due to high potency, Throat kick, & good, slightly rough, taste. Price alone brings it in second.. although I think it's my personal favorite.(My go to for a strong th)

#3
The XTR comes in third. Strong flavor and TH, neither qualities ,imo, trumped both the other two.

Exc has better natural taste usa LN better TH. And with the price XTR is definitely 3rd for flavored nic.

VT is a close 4th for me, it does have a nic flavor thats clean and I detect th.... too close to rts to call.

My future orders will be USA LN or nic select
