Thanks guys. I thought it was just me. TC works great on my Eleaf iPower 80 mod and sometimes it's great on the Therion 166...but sometimes it's not. I used to always rebuild when it wouldn't work but now I'm just gonna use Power mode and enjoy my muddafuggin' vape.
Do you have any other RTAs that work perfectly? You could put a SS build in it and try it out on the Therion, this would eliminate the nano's press fit deck as a possible cause of your TC issues.

Speaking of DNA mods, do you know why I would get a slightly lower resistance reading in TC mode? It's reading the coil at .49 and I get very little vapor or flavor but in Power mode the coil is read at .51. Using the same wattage, I get a much better vape in Power mode. Increasing the wattage in TC mode doesn't help much.

This tank vapes fine in Power & TC modes on my Eleaf iPower 80 mod. Maybe I should just give up TC mode on the Therion 166. I've messed around with the settings in Escribe but I haven't had any luck so far.

I asked the question of different ohm readings on the Evolv forum a while back and James from Evolv answered:

"This particular behavior is mostly an artifact -- on-screen Ohms is Cold Ohms for temperature-sensing coils and Live Ohms for non-temperature-sensing coils. In Device Monitor / EScribe fields on-screen Ohms are labeled Cold Ohms. The underlying query is R=GET. So, for non-temperature-sensing coils, you are always seeing Live Ohms."

If one gets serious about TC, you may find a lot more experienced help by joining the Evolv forums.

Stainless Steel wire from different manufacturers can vary greatly and throw a real wrench into TC vaping. I use both the default Steam-Engine SS316L wire profile and the UD SS316L V4 wire profile. The UD settings are quite a bit warmer than the stock, so I tend to use it the most.

You can save the attached file, rename it to DNA200-UD-SS_316L V4.CSV and load it to your mod via the eScribe Material Tab.

Change the wire type in your current profile by holding Up, Down and Fire with the DNA locked. Then make sure your atty is cold, unscrew it, hit fire a few times to clear any previous resistance and screw your atty on. Hit fire and it should set the resistance, it might ask you to confirm a New Coil. Select Yes and you should be good to go.

I'd start with 50W and 420F, raising the temperature as required. I run SS all my TC vaping between 460F and 480F on all devices with the power depending on the coils installed. I usually run the power around 50W to 60W for single coils and 85W to 100W for dual builds.

I am not sure why the resistance is different in power and TC modes, my DNA's show that as well.

Thanks! I'll try out that profile.

Do you have any other RTAs that work perfectly? You could put a SS build in it and try it out on the Therion, this would eliminate the nano's press fit deck as a possible cause of your TC issues.

I'll try the Merlin RTA. I've only used it on the Therion for very short periods of time.

I read on some other forums that one should not lock the resistance in DNA mods. Maybe locking the resistance caused the destruction of the wick?

I'm using 30 PG 70 VG. It's vaping very nicely now.

The resistance is supposed to change, that's how TC works. The board reads the variations in the wires resistivity as it heats up and uses that to approximate temperature. if you lock resistance on a DNA, it will not be able to do TC properly.

Small changes in resistivity are normal, this tank has the lower bits all press fit together so you are not going to get a 100% stable reading at all times, so it could be that or any number of things... just don't worry about it, as long as your settings are right the board will deal w/ all of that.

What I can tell you is that most of the factory material TFR ranges that Evolv puts on their new boards are either slightly wrong or way off. What you need to do is delete all of those and go on steam engine and download new csv's for your wire types.

If you do that right, the board should work perfectly in TC without any more messing around... as long as the wire composition is what it should be.

Are you manually entering the values or is there a way to load them right onto the mod. I've entered a few manually but don't know a lot about it.
You set them up on steam engine and download them.

I have a few csv where I've customized the points the way Evolv likes them, should also give you some extra accuracy in the 300-500 range, let me know if you need some.
If you would like to share your custom CSV files it would be appreciated. Just change them to .TXT and upload the in a post.

Hello everyone. New user here. Been lurking on this thread for quiet some time before deciding to register lol. Had the Nano for about 2 weeks now, and so far i am very satisfied with it. The build quality ( i got the stainless steel one), top airflow, and mostly, no leaking! My Merlin mini is staying in the drawer now.

After a few builds, finally got the one with my liking. 26g Kanthal, 2.5 mm ID and 7 wraps, came out at 0.83 ohms, airflow almost closed, and vaping at 19-22 watts so far. Much much better than on Merlin mini though, since its mini, it gets way too hot after chain vaping for some time. The second one goes to alien clapton, 3 mm ID, 0.45 ohm at 31 watts, but too much juice hog.

One question though, since i'm new to vaping ( its been 2 months), last night i tried to build coil on the Engine, when i test fire it, the coil sounded like buzzing? the coil fires normally, no jumping ohms, but i do heard the buzzing though. its not coming from the mod ( Smok alien), im pretty sure its from the coil. and this happen when i try to place the coil on same level at the top of the post, when i build normally in between the post, nothing happen. is this shortage somehow? anyone had any experince with this before?

Make sure the wire ends are tight and are the wires touching each other?
