Amazon Prime takes just over a week to get to me APO, but anything else, easily a month. Too bad Amazon won't ship a lot of electronics APO. Dunno what's going on with that. Refuse to use Newegg because their shipping costs are ludicrous.
Amazon makes heavy use of drop shipping, meaning they don't actually have it in stock. They go to their supplier who then ships to the purchaser. Unfortunately, some of those suppliers are not in the US which would pretty much kill the ability to ship to an APO/FPO address.
I got an RC car shipped from Hong Kong to Germany in 7 days. That's two trips across the ocean.
A PS3 from Best buy took 9 weeks, it got put on a boat.
I think that all letters and small packages get put on a plane. If it is a larger package, maybe shoe box size and over, if ground shipping is selected, it gets put on a boat, but if priority is selected it gets put on a plane.

Here in Bahrain the FPO gets stuff here in an average of 7 to 10 days regardless of size. Of course during the holidays it takes a little longer. I shipped a 40+ pound footlocker sized box from CONUS (OH) to here and received it in 6 days.

Here is a GOOD APO/FPO review. I ordered my Provari Mini Red/Black w/4 18350's on the 14th and it was shipped on the 17th. Well, low and behold it was received in Bahrain today!! 6 days to Bahrain through the military postal system. Not too shabby!
It's the Patriot unit there though? I've been attached to Patriot for 3 1/2 years. It's a different world........

Yeah, there is a Patriot detachment here. Seen them one Friday when I was out on my motorcycle. Explained why I was seeing the Army at the exchange on base.

They shouldn't be confiscating any batteries since the "ban" was lifted sometime ago YMMV. No problems getting them through the FPO here in Bahrain.
I worked in Kuwait as a contractor from 2005-2009 (CSA Ltd) and the mail ran pretty consistent. The JMMT had a pretty good delivery rate. Packages would usually get to me in not much more than a week. Especially Amazon.
I'm still waiting, I want my AR MOD and Nimbus!!!!!!, but I did get my magnets in and drip trip for it
