Esharp, I totally agree. I'm not necessarily arguing that I should be able to vape in the building, however it would be pretty sweet, and there's not really a good reason that I cant, other than that they don't want me to ;) I was just saying that it's going in a direction that will likely make it impossible to even bring any vaping related product into the office on my physical person. This means no vape in your pocket (like you would have a pack of cigarettes) to use while on break (outside the building). No juice to refill your cartomizers, atomizers, tanks etc, no nothing vaping related at all. I would most likely have to leave it all in my truck parked on the side of a public street, and walk there if I want to vape. These are my fears!

New development. At five to four today just before I left work an email was circulated with my personal home address and phone numbers under the disguise of being a distribution of "contact information for emergencies". I will be filing a complaint under The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This is just soo way out of hand.

Never under estimate ignorance.

My information was the only complete one on the list.

Did you send this to David?

You may also wish to point out that cigarettes contain every single chemical that vapor does, plus 3997 more (yes, PG and VG are both used in cigs, as are flavorings).

Given that your vape is a subset of what a cigarette contains, those would also have to be banned if they object to the chemicals.

Bury them with science. Gather as many peer-reviewed papers as possible and keep them handy for when the inspectors show up. Ideally, highlight the summaries that show the people are full of crap.

"But it scares me!" *should* fall flat vs. "These dozen studies by medical researchers show no inherent danger not only to you, but to me as well."

So i've been lurking on here for FAAAAR too long, but I created this account now because of this thread. I also work in the public sector in Northern, ON. I don't really want to say the name of the EXACT agency, but let's just say we have many "sites" in Ontario where a lot of money goes in, but not much comes out if you get my point. I work at the head office and everyone I work with from Managers & Directors all the way down to the cleaning staff know what vaping is because I vape ALL day long at work and have even converted a few employees myself. I don't go outside, I do it right at my desk and I walk around with an eGo in my pocket from floor to floor and vape. No one has ever said anything to me about it - most likely because i'm incredibly vocal and engage them in long convo's when they ask about PG, nic, etc.

The reason this is relevant is because I got a call one day from a high level director in a conf. call that wanted to know more about vaping (what it is, the legality, etc). I guess my name had been mentioned as someone who knows about it. The reason they wanted to know was because there were more and more patron's coming into a site from the US and they were bringing their PV's with them. The general direction of the call was "Well, does this actually violate any smoking laws? If not, should we allow it?". I gave my (albeit strong) opinions, answered any questions they had and then left. Although not openly broadcasted, the response from this meeting was that PV's WOULD NOT BE BANNED from any of the sites and if someone was vaping, an employee would kindly ask them to keep it as personal as possible as to not create confusion for the rest of the patrons. I'm guessing this could help as leverage if needed. If the government can make a policy allowing the general public to vape indoors, there should be no reason employee's can't.

If you want, PM me for more details....There's nothing I'm more passionate about than this. Hope it helps

Also SloHand, I'm the Health & Safety Rep. where I work. I really can't see juice being banned from the work place as a "toxin" or "chemical" not when most work environments and homes contain numerous ones.

As the health and safety rep, you would know this is covered under OHSA sec 37.

Even more so is OHSA sec 25(2)(h)

When in doubt, MOL falls on the blanket statements to argue their point.

This can all be alleviated by securing an MSDS for the juice.

Nice,so a couple friends that take their breaks together came up with the brilliant idea that you are poisoning them due to something their read on ''the net'',probably the ol'gov propaganda from 2009 articles floating around and went on a crusade adding a bit of flair of their own to a boss which took their words for gospel and so it began...

Eventually (hopefully) those ...... will have to apologize to you (yeah right).

Good luck.

A completely uneventful day. The employer asked and got an extension to their level two process prior to calling in the Ministry of Labour. Management has now extended an invitation to all directors across the province to weigh in on this debate. The organization that I work for has approximately 67,000 employees and office locations in pretty much every town in Ontario. So they are now incredibly aware that whatever the outcome of this will result in precedence to all offices.

The extension has been granted to Monday but in the meantime there are still workers that have not come back to work.

Here are the main points of their argument to have all things related to vaping banned completely from any of their workplaces. The list is small and is so insanely ridiculous …. Anyway here it is;

- the batteries in the devices can explode
- any human contact with the liquid can kill someone

That’s their big argument. It is, as we here all know, the most asinine fears imaginable. Irrational, steeped in myth and not fact ….

I was privy to hear some of the discussions when MSDS sheets were submitted and I can tell you that they see only the things there that will continue to propagate their fears.

I feel like I’m in one of those bad dreams where your trying like hell to run away from a monster but the wind is blowing at you so hard you can hardly move. I'm sure that probably means something :(

As someone pointed out here early on this thread, I have been and will continue to flood them with fact until hopefully someone actually reads some of it and they snap out of it.

Got some ideas? Lets hear them.

PS On the release of my personal information .... the manager claims it was done in error .... yet I have seen no attempt to recall the communique. Even if they did, it's a little late now. That issue I am having to fight on another front.

the batteries can explode and kill someone? well then they must ban all cellphones, laptops, tablets, and anything else that uses li-ion or li-po batteries..what a joke..

Not to mention the millions of toys out there, such as RC helicopters, that kids are playing with...
