I work at a non-profit retail store in Virginia. The state labor commission "recommends" a half hour meal break and 2 10-minute breaks for full-time employees, but no laws mandate this for those over 16. My employer gives me the meal break, but grudgingly allows 5-minute cigarette breaks. I'm the only one at my store who vapes, although the store manager told me that recently one of the other store managers brought a PV to a company meeting. My non-smoking co-workers think my vaping is a good thing, and my smoking workers were curious at first but are now indifferent. On my meal break, I vape outside with the smokers. However, I no longer take "smoke" breaks. It's sort of a "don't ask, don't tell" thing. I load my mini Protanks with low-odor liquids and when I go to the john, I vape. I'm sure my co-workers smell something different, but since it's not cigarette smoke, no one complains. I know my supervisor has caught on, because privately she tells me what she smelled.

I am a table games dealer in Las Vegas, where the customers whom I serve can freely vape and/or smoke cigars and cigarettes and blow their smoke in anyone and everyone's face (employees and patrons). Funny though, "chewing" is banned because the casino management thinks it is "unsanitary".

Several months ago my employer restricted employee vaping to the outdoor smoking area only. They claimed that there were complaints that the vapor "smelled bad" to other employees. Yet I must stand withing three feet of analog smokers who are facing me directly on the tables who are able to freely smoke to their hearts desire and even blow it directly in my face if they are not happy with me because they are losing their money. I am also restricted from saying anything to a customer if their SHS is out of control and offending anyone, including myself.

I vape at work in my office and no one seems to care. Everyone seems pleased to smell my vape instead of the stinkies. I have also got at least three others switched to vaping and more and more smokers at work are seeing that vaping is the key to quitting smoking. I'm just happy I don't have to go out with the smokers and freeze in the winter and smell disgusting when I come back in.

I drive a freight train.
No one cared when I smoked(I always opened the locomotive window a little bit) unless it was really cold outside(see window open part), and no one cares that I now vape.
If they did care, or said something to me about it, they are free to remove themselves from my locomotive...because I'm the one with the federal license, and that ..... doesn't move unless I'm the one moving it.

I love my job.

When I first started at my current job, smoking was pretty much allowed anywhere at work except for certain critical areas. One person complained (as was her right to do so) and my employer began enforcing the non-smoking rules.

My workstation is slightly different, because it's on its own ventilation system, so the smoking policy has been that the senior person on shift controls the smoking policy for that area. Being the senior person on shift, well, I vape in my work area.

I HAVE vaped in other areas (except around the person that ratted us out to Corporate, lol) and no one's said a word.

I DO try to be considerate of others (I'm not gonna blow clouds in the middle of a production meeting or at a lunch table) because I work for a large, multinational corporation, and although vaping isn't banned, I want to try to keep my head low and on a swivel, because we're run by bean counters, not by folks like me out on the floor.

I vape wherever I want. When in an area that may not approve, I simply take hits in a way that very little discharge can be detected. If people can't see the vapor, only smell, they usually don't disapprove. My flavors are all mouth watering tasty mixes from AltCig so even the non smokers enjoy the smell. I do feel that 80% of the time, it's smart to keep a low profile to avoid those people who just like to ....h about anything. I haven't vaped a tobacco related flavor in some time. It's never polite to blow anything into someone else's face, unless it's a deliberate shotgun, I mean, unless they request it.

I work midnights at the front desk at a retirement apartment complex. The building is officially smoke-free, but since last call for Geritol is at about 9pm, nobody is up and around to catch me vaping. It's funny because when the property manager comes in at about 6am, depending on what I'm vaping, she'll comment about how nice it smells in the building!

I am the receptionist for a pulmonologist, right up front and very visible. I vape all day at my desk and am allowed to talk to our patients about vaping, demonstrate and hand out literature. HOWEVER, I blow the vapor down at the floor or hold my breath most of the time, I don't feel the need to "push the envelope" and be obnoxious about the issue while I'm at work. I feel very fortunate to be able to vape at work and don't want to lose that privilege.

I simply started vaping at work. Any time, all the time. The only comment from management was "hell, I wish all smokers would use that, would cut down on the smoke breaks and we would be able to get rid of that stinking smoking area!" ;)

Since then, five colleagues have started vaping (among them my direct manager and my team mate)... Soon... Soon... ;)
