Hmmm, guess I need to scrap the plan where I hold it in my bare hands while I run the match under it!8-o

Not at all, because it is so thin, it dissipates the heat just about instantly. Heat one end from end to middle, switch ends and heat middle to end; haven't burnt my fingers yet ;).

Forgot all about having set up this calculator for work  It's perfect for getting an idea of the length of your resistance wire, and with that, the resistance (ohms) of your coil. Unless you have a perfectly formed coil and exact measurements, this will be a ballpark figure; but should be a close ballpark :D

If you use this and have any issues, please let me know - this is provided with no guarantees of receiving correct or accurate information ;)

In one of the Kanthal .pdf files it said that Nichrome was mechanically stronger... but now I'm not finding it
I got the Kanthal because in the forum they said the Kanthal, being mechanically weaker, was easier to make tidy coils with.

I'm new to rba's. Got a Line V2 last week. I believe I have the wick preparation down. No I've been working on find the perfect coil. Tried 36awg Kanthal. Kind of flavorless unless I do a lot of wraps for a 4.0ohm coil. But that runs my battery down to fast. No I'm using 32awg Nichrome and I have just as many wraps but a lower resistance. GREAT flavor. I find the more surface area of the wick I cover in coil, the better the flavor.

I still have some 28 awg & 30 awg Kanthal to try that I received with the Nichrome.
