Smok alien wont connect

Trying this again; has anyone found the 1.2.1 firmware for download? Or is there a way to download the firmware from the alien. I'd like to update the firmware from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2 but don't dare to without the option to go back to 1.2.1.

I'm hoping someone smarter can figure a way to do this.... That or hope that smok comes to its senses and either release the V1.2.1 or a newer firmware

Tried the ISP tool and I didn't find a way to download the software either. I don't think it can be done that easily.

there's two different versions of the alien 220... A when updated is v1.2.2 and B which is VB1.0.2, B doesn't need any updating currently.

During power on it shows what version of firmware is currently installed if that helps.

Thanks man! My alien will arrive tomorrow I think that I'll stick to the old firmware and wait until smok release a much more stable one.

My Alien has V1.2.1 and it works perfect from what I have seen so far and I haven't even contemplated updating the firmware but I am following this thread in case I decide I want to mess around with it.

Did you have any issues about the miss fire?

Not experiencing any problems with it as I said and what do you mean by misfire? As far as I can tell it is firing on all cylinders! Quad coils in my Baby Beast at .15Ω

steve, some of the A's had an issue with misfiring, which is where the V 1.2.2 update comes in, as long as yours is working... *shrugs*

Good news, Smok website now states there are 2 different versions of the Alien....

Really weird that they released two different versions. Not very smart or cost effective I'd think.

two different chips... as i said in my post, A is V 1.2.1 and B is VB 1.0.2 ... hubby and i managed to get one of each. if you try and update B with A you will brick it, so don't.

Agreed. I'm guess there was a chip shortage or something because they didn't expect the alien to sell as good as it did.
I remember on the initial release that ever reseller was on backorder or pre-order.

They didn't release two versions. Version A is apparently faulty so they changed out one piece of hardware on the board. Instead of recalling version A, they just said screw it and released version B with the newer hardware. This is typical of China, but it is what it is.

replacing parts and releasing another one... is a new version... *headdesk*
