hi,
i'm glad this thread has been revived.

i'm interested in joplin, but i don't know which restaurants/bars would allow a vaping meet. of course there's the downstream casino, but that probably would not be an appropriate place for a meet - plus, i'm guessing they would probably charge if it is going to be a separate room. but then, there's always the sports book section. i just think there would be too many distractions to do it in a casino. okay, i just talked myself out of the casino setting. :-/

i'm hoping someone that lives in joplin will chime in here and give a list of some places to consider. i could be wrong, but i think the chain restaurants do not allow smoking - but i don't know that for fact.

The only Non-Smoking restaurants I've been to in Joplin have been sushi places, and that sort of thing. Most other places have a smoking section, but I realize that's a problem for many vapers (I don't care; smoke doesn't bother me unless it's pretty thick, like very thick, or if that stinky crap is blowing right in my face). I've vaped in the non-smoking sections at quite a few places... I wasn't "Ninja vaping", but I also didn't make a big deal about it, so maybe it's just that nobody noticed. If we have some idea how many will be there, I'm sure I could find someplace. If the weather's nice, there is a nice Mexican restaurant by the convention center that has a big patio... Chedders has one as well... probably a couple others. If we get some kind of idea of when and how many, and what kind of food we want, I'm sure I could find a place that will let us hang out for a couple of hours to play with our stuff, eat, drink, and be merry. I like any kind of food. That's how I got to be so fat.
:toast:

EDIT: Speaking of drink an merriment, there are a couple of issues to iron out. Nobody wants to drink and drive, so maybe we should consider a hotel bar/restaurant. Also, I wouldn't want to exclude anyone that has a problem with alcohol, so if there are any alcoholics or religious people wanting to attend, this is a good time to speak up! :)

Cabo del Sol, it's north of Cheddar's, east of Steak 'n Shake.

Cheddar's might be a better choice, because of the menu, location, etc., but it's awfully busy during the peak hours. We'd could try to schedule for an odd time, or just use the patio (again, if the weather is nice). They've got anything from burgers, ribs, steak, Italian-type stuff. The Spagania (?) is good, it's like lasagna made with spaghetti noodles instead of lasagna noodles, and you can get red or white sauce, or "half and half".

Never ate there, but I'm game.

I hadn't thought about a pool hall, hmm.... but the Flying J has a restaurant, and I know they allow vaping (they sell NJoy and Mystic ecigs). Like most other places in Joplin, there is also a smoking area. I've had more than my fair share of their food (standard truck stop fare, like a Denny's), but if that's the best choice, then I'm game.

I'm on the road now (broke down in Dallas, TX ), and I don't know when I'll be home, but I'll sure try to make it to whatever meet you guys set up.

Coincidentally, for the first time in 30 or so years, I recently went bowling with friends. Smoking is allowed, and they have food and booze. I guess you could just go in there and hang out...

yeh, i'm thinking as long as people are spending money, i'm guessing they wouldn't mind. :)

p.s. sorry you are broke down in texas.
