Tank Mod (adding a top fill)

So, I have an Altus. Only complaint I have with it is that it's a bottom fill, and it leaves quite alot (in my opinion) of unused space in the tank. Unscrewing the thing to fill it, while not the gigantic world ending hassle some people have made it out to be, IS inconvenient.

I was thinking about taking it to a local machine shop and having them put a 2mm or so hole in the top of it, tap some threads, and put a small dome top screw with an O-ring in the hole. Does that sound like a solid plan? Anyone have any reasons why that would be a bad idea?

personally I'd look around at similar size tanks with top fill a lot of these tanks use the same threading and what not, perhaps you can Frankenstein something nice together
