Removing the spike is quite easy, just a small screwdriver or knife needed. I place the wick in the flame of the stove for 20-30 seconds until it turns red, after that is is white and clean, just like new

I have been really wanting to get myself the ego-cc, however, I am disappointed now to discover from reading that despite constructing the main body of the tank out of steel, they included plastic instead of glass in the body.

It's only a matter of time before the various potentially unsafe materials are eliminated in the atomiser component, meanwhile there is no need to continue putting plastic in the tank unnecessarily; I guess somebody else will take the idea of the ego-cc and use glass for the tank.
