The first thing that came to mind was "those threads are toast" No need to clamp down the head while working on it. The only time I use a vise is for making more complex coils.

The vise I do use also has removable rubber pieces on the jaws, so if I need to clamp something with a thread, I won't damage it.

And my workstation is the corner of the kitchen dining table covered with a paper towel to dump my stuff onto from my $3 Lowe's toolbox. I guess I need to up my game.

I get ONE CORNER in the kitchen to store all my stuff...and I can use the kitchen table at night when the kids go to bed.

And she still says I'm taking up the whole kitchen. :):):)
