RDA TOBH and center post issues

I am using 29 gauge kanthal to build a single coil for my TOBH and have found the center post to not make full connection to the wire. It wiggles and can be pulled out when the screw is fully down. What I have taken to doing is folding over a second piece a few times and putting it on top of the coil's lead then screwing down the post. Is this the best way or should I try for a thicker gauge wire?

Folding it over shouldn't hurt anything although I have not had this issue.
