Well, I did it... first coil build ever.

About 7 wraps of 28ga Kanthal on a 3mm diameter tool. 1.5 ohms.

This flat top bellcap KFL+ V2 Frankenstein is good... real good. Flavor is right there with my Vika Fantasy, and I haven't found anything that i could say that about.

My only small complaint is the air hole whistle. I ended up taking the airflow screw out of the bottom and covering the side one with my finger. Maybe radiusing the hole with Dremel could fix that.

In wood a 1/4" hole will be snug enough that it takes some pressure to force it in. Metal... got the right tap? :w00t:

Or at least helped keep them open! ;)
I have the right tap for the 510 replacement connector but not for the actual 510 thread

well done ... IMO, the whistle is only noticeable during complete silence, eg: vaping in the library

too much noise going on in my life to even notice.

Happy to report, I just refilled the KFL+ Bellcapenstein by unscrewing the base/deck and it was just as trouble-free as refilling any bottom-fill tank. Also, still no sign of any leakage around the bellcap base where I removed threads.

Now I'm thinking this one is perfect size for out and about, but I want to build another one with a bit more capacity for loafing around the house.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday! Just wanted to say thanks for all your help, if it wasn't for you, I'd have never gotten in to the satisfying hobby of all things vaping DIY! It's nice to have such a great bunch of people willing to help. I usually get an answer to a burning question within a half hour.
Oh, and I'm writing this while tootling![emoji4]

Wabbit ears!

Coil, wick but do not trim... instead bring the tails of the wick upwards and slide the barrel over the wick. When the barrel is screwed down, trim the wicks just above the top of the barrel. Separate the wicks and genty tuck into either side of the coil. Use a small screwdriver or sharp tweezers to avoid distorting the coil.
I use the bunny-ear method. After tucking down the wick, I take a blue little screwdriver and pull the wick away from the juicechannels. That works great to avoid dryhits.

I noticed how you found ECF at the perfect time and jumped right in to secure a tobacco free future for yourself.

Congrats

The FDA regs are going to go through eventually ... BT will not be denied.

Vaping will become cigalikes and nicotine salt pods FDA approved for BT.

Watch for the hammer to drop on 100mg nicotine base next.
