I don't quite know. I'm happy with my 1.8-2-0ohm coils. Don't really want to go much lower. Could stretch down to 1.6, but not any further.
Inner diameter is the actual diameter of the coil, not the space to build the coil, right?
I really want to get into this! And I will of course research more before I start, I just...Want it...Here. Now!Yes ID is the inner diameter of the coil.
Perhaps you should slow down for a minute or two.
On a decent quality regulated mod resistance is pretty much irrelevant.
I have said this to you before 10 watts is 10 watts regardless of the resistance.

I like to do so too, but the TPD is stressing me out. And I'm impatiant. I just bought 30m of 30g kanthal a1 wire for $9. It'll do.I patient hunter is a successful hunter.
Thin wire heats and cool quicker, that is generally good.
Some find thin wire difficult to work with because it is more fragile.
I am happy with 28 and 30 and can use them more or less interchangeable.
I like to research before I spend as much as possible.
and YMMV
Hey Vapez - I use a 1/16" drill bit for my PT2s (just under 1.6mm) I use 30g on those heads - I don't need a lot of wick, and that's what's worked incredibly well for me.
I use 28g on my Subtank RBAs and a lot of my drippers (just what I had and was getting used to.) I do have a touch of 26g, but I'm building sub-ohm in those drippers.
To be incredibly honest, you probably aren't going to notice much of a difference in your vape on resistances of 1.6-2.2 ohms, especially if you have a set wattage at which you're running your mod. I think the 28g will work for you, but you WILL want a larger diameter coil (2.5mm is a great starting point.) I have wrapped some 3mm coils, but 2.5 seems to work well for *ME*
It is going to be a lot about testing and playing to figure what will work well for you.
True. But wick contact vs watts per mm wire is a big factor too. I get some spitting on my stock subtank mini RBA 0.5 ohm coil and better behavior building my own spaced coil using 30awg Kanthal wrapped on a 6-32 machine screw for a 2.5 mm diameter. 6 or 7 wraps around 1.4 to 1.7 or so ohms. Same 8 to 10w, better performance. Your mileage may vary.Yes ID is the inner diameter of the coil.

This.Hi Vapez,
On the SteamEngine site, look at that "Heat Flux" over on the right hand side. With that 30ga build, it's getting a bit hot (look at the color of the flame icon). I'm not sure if you will like a 1.8 ohm 30ga build at 12 watts. For me, I try getting the heat flux down around where the flame is a darker green and to be honest, I wouldn't run a 1.8 ohm build much over 9 watts.
Not sure what your going to be building this on but I assume it will be some sort of Kayfun variant. FOR ME, I target my kayfuns more towards the 1.4-1.5 ohm range using a 2.5mm coil jig with 28ga wire. That puts my heat flux at 152 and allows me to use it on either a regulated mod (even without step down) or one of my mechanical's and provides a nice vape.
As far as wire sizes goes, I keep 26, 28, 29, 30, and 32 gauge wire on hand so that I have options for different devices. It's cheap and won't go bad and so far (in the almost 2 years of building) I've bought it once and not run out yet.
yep 2 - 2.5 mm id a 1.3 would not have enough cotton in it to wick good to the center of the coil.vapez, that's a pretty tiny inner diameter coil (1.3). You won't get a lot of wick in that. I generally use 2.5, sometimes 2 for my rebuildables.
I figured. I understand more of it now and see that it wouldn't be a problem with 28g either.Hi Vapez,

For me a 1.8ohm 2mm id 30 ga coil vapes nicely at 8 watts.Hi Vapez,

Absolutely Higher ohms/ lower power... Thinner gauge/ faster ramp up speed... It's all good, it all worksFor me a 1.8ohm 2mm id 30 ga coil vapes nicely at 8 watts.
I just know that subohm is not for me. At least not yet.
Thats it right there!! Just practice with what you have!!I figured. I understand more of it now and see that it wouldn't be a problem with 28g either.
I'm now vaping 1,95ohm at 14w. I usually stay between 10-12w, but I really need the throat hit right now.
Edit: I'll build on the subtank mini. I'll test various ohms when I get the stuff
I just know that subohm is not for me. At least not yet.
LIES!!! Shes a TRUE ModWhomper Guys/Gals!! I mean have you SEEN her COIL Porn??!?I was saying that about a year ago
I don't build sub-ohm often, and it's around 0.7 ohms. More for "playing" for me. My favorite vape is still a Nautilus or a PT2 with coils in the range of 1.5-1.8 ohms.....
But it was smooth no kinksLIES!!! Shes a TRUE ModWhomper Guys/Gals!! I mean have you SEEN her COIL Porn??!?
