Toptank mini, two different airflow bases?

i just received three different colored toptank mini's. Strangely, the silver one has a different airflow control base than the black and white one. The silver base has two large, continous holes that are closed off as the base is rotated. The control has no dentons. The colored ones have a traditional kanger flow control with three dentons corresponding to three different sized holes. The silver has a MUCH more open draw than the colored ones.

Two different models? I thought the only difference would be the color.

I believe one of the bases are an older model, looks more like the Protank 4 base. I have one Toptank with the older base too and some with the newer one. I actually prefer the older bases.

Thanks. I take it the older one is the one with the dentons? Its similar to the bases on my subtank nano.

The newer bases have just the one slot and it turns much easier than the ones with the indentations. It's shorter as well. I like it much better.
