I know it's been quiet in here. I really thought I'd have these all done by now but I'm sill working on finishing up this batch.
I'm now using a clear insulator on the interior silver wire and I'm using a black wire for the 510 so the interior really look nice and clean now but wow this hard wiring takes a whole lot more time to do
all of the chips are installed and all of the hard wiring is done and the 510's are all installed. all that's left now is to install the ground springs and the screens and make all of the buttons and do a final hand rub on the satins.
the only real blem out of the whole batch is that black one all the way in the back. luckily it's one of the few that doesn't belong to anyone yet
I'll have more pics in a bit and really am working hard on getting these things done and out to you guys, they gotta start shipping by the weekend at this point I'd say
. I may reduce the next batch to 15 mods... doing 20 at a time really takes a whole lot more time than I thought it would. I'd really like to keep my batch cycle times to around one month so 15 may be more practical for me.

Sadly, I'm going to have to take myself off the list, for now. After all the holiday travel/spending, buying a new phone (I threw my old one in the wash machine 
), and then getting the flu and therefore missing an additional week and a half of work, I won't have the finances for this for a while... .

You always paid that much. It was just hidden in the fees of the contract plan.
of course you are right, it's actually a lot more fair now, back then everyone was paying for a new phone each and every month whether they had a new phone or not which is why it always made the most sense to run out and grab a new subsidized phone every 18 months just to not get beat, but even so, psychologically I think it just felt better getting screwed the old way
I used to get a new phone every 2 yrs for $0.01 from Best Buy through AT&T until this year because they want an extra fee every month... No more. I have babied my S5 and it is still like brand new and my contract expired back in November... My reward for this was <$20 less per month on my bill, so if you multiply that out I actually paid $480 over the 2yr period... They still got their money, but now they get an extra because I would've still been charged that $20 for being under contract + the extra $25+ /mo depending on what phone I chose. Its their way of getting all that extra money back for those that are grandfathered into the old unlimited data plans. We all are paying for that one now!!!
If "brand new" is not compulsory for a replacement phone, check out Swappa. I got my Nexus 5x through them, barely used (it looked brand new) with two cases, screen protector and all the accessories you'd find in the box. Oh yeah, and the box too, all for under $250. Now it's not the New New, but it's eminently serviceable. The site is searchable by brand or by carrier and prices seen pretty reasonable for used gear. I know it does not help anyone who just bought a replacement, but for anyone else, it might be worth a look.

Opening day price for the StarTac was $1000.
It's taken me 2 years to get used too paying the full price for my phones up front as well. I actually prefer it this way' it makes you much more selective when buying a phone now.
