Ultimate Cigarette Flavor

I notice many people asking about or trying to match analogue flavor. As well, I know the first 30 or so posts on each thread will be the same old tired "you'll never replicate combustion" being parroted mindlessly. Of course there is no combustion in vaping; none of us are that stupid. Although, when something burns, it undergoes many chemical transformations, not just oxidization. It is the resulting chemical byproducts that compose the odor and flavor of burning, not the burning itself. Therefore, we should be able to duplicate, or at least simulate, the taste and aroma of an analogue with chemicals alone. Granted, some of these byproducts are dangerous to say the least; in these cases, there is usually a less dangerous flavorant/odorant in the same family that will do for our purposes.
This recipe is my attempt to synthesize an analogue cigarette flavor, while avoiding any mutogenic or toxic chemicals. I developed it for my brother, who demanded it in order to switch to vaping. Needless to say it works.

This is much easier...http://www.flavorah.com/ejuice-flavoring/flue-cured-tobacco/

And yes, it really does taste like a cig.
Hi Jimi, I am honored to have you on my thread. This recipe is more about chemical reactions between the flavorants than the actual flavors themselves. For instance, the anise and cinnamon ceylon flavorings contain chemicals which react to release the pure cinnamaldehyde; the 2 week steep for the flavor mix is to allow the black touch licorice to lose its flavor, leaving only the glycyrrhizin behind; the cooking of the final juice should release the alcohols present in the mix, as well as reduce the menthol content to methyl menthyl acetate; the final steep is to allow not only the tobacco flavors to mature, but also for the guaiacol, ethylguaiacol 4-methyl guaiacol, 5-methyl guaiacol, and syringol to do their thing.
Other recipes maybe simpler, but simplicity was not a factor in developing this recipe, only chemical similarity.

Impressive, for sure. I flavor an unflavored base (PG/VG/nic) with FA - Perique Black, or just TFA - Key Lime, or both, or neither. It's been more than 350 days since I've smoked a cigarette, so I don't remember what a smoked cigarette tastes like. One of those great lost memories!

Wow! This is amazing! I never knew anybody went that hardcore on a DIY.

Can you clone "The Virus" ?
Probably not, as I refuse to buy premade ejuice. Years ago, I worked as a private chef. I know what kind of mark-up there is on 4 star food. Consequently, I refuse to eat at fancy places, and cook the same meals at home. I eat like a king, and save a ....ton of money. Similarly, when I spent a month researching vaping before trying it, I discovered ejuice was kind of the same deal.

That's amazing man. If I had all those flavors I would have to try it. I did try a cigar flavoring at Vape Fest that tasted exactly like a cigar. The developer was an interesting fellow indeed. Great work man :toast:
Thanks, Jimi. Means a lot coming from the man who inspired me to try black fire and dnb drops.

Not just crazy, but AWESOME CRAZY! Unflavored juice may not taste like a cigarette, but it does taste great. It's one of my favorites (great palette cleanser)!

it's good. not knocking your recipe at all. i don't think i want to totally replicate a cig, I'm soo over them. But unflavored placated me enuf to get me off.
It's a tough addiction, whatever it takes...

And welcome to ECF, hope your other recipes are as great and people come to enjoy them.

Your mix sounds good. As far as your memories - sentimental attatchments can be deceiving; you would most likely find a real cigarette positively beestly now. Actually, other than developing this recipe, you couldn't pay me to vape this ....; it tastes too real. Most commercial cigarettes(not all) taste absolutely wretched to me, and this recipe tastes equally awful. When I smoked, I proccessed my own tobacco, so I know what goes into casing and top note spray and why each ingredient is there. This particular recipe duplicates the chemistry behind R.J. Reynolds' base formula, and is meant to taste somewhere between Winston and Camel filters; of course you can tweek it to match a particular brand.

    Pretty much mix all of my concentrates together?(;
All jokes aside, really great work. I myself enjoy trying other people's recipes.. But I'm not so sure about this one. If you've got any other recipes (perhaps -10 ingredients :) ) feel free to share, I'd love to try them out.
I can only imagine the time and effort you've put in to this one.
