I am about to take a couple of very long flights for the first time since I started vaping. I've read that vaping will set off the smoke detectors in airplane bathrooms. However, I've been experimenting and if I use my vision spinner with an evod head on a lower voltage, I can hold the vapor in long enough that nothing comes out. Has anyone expiramented with this on a plane? I usually use a kayfun on an APV and I know I won't be able to pull that off, but I'm thinking if I modify the way I vape a little and use a smaller device, it might just work.

Some smoke detectors work by having a beam. If you break that beam with smoke/vape it will go off. Just keep the clouds to a minimum and you should be ok. Or bring something with you to cover the detector.

Edit: Yea bad idea. last thing you need is for the thing going off and getting kicked off the plane. I hear crazy storys about the plane having to stop short and having people kicked off/arrested.

It might work, but I wouldn't try it myself. I'd probably just slap on a patch and chew nicotine gum, and deal. Let us know how it goes, OK?
Patches make me crazy and gum makes me sick, so if I get nervous about it I'll probably just deal. I used to take 20 hour flights and not be able to smoke, so I will probably be able to deal with this. Xanax or sleeping pills do the trick, too!

I won't mess with the smoke detector, but I'm thinking if there is nothing to detect I should be ok. I would just need to be super conscious of not blowing even one cloud, which is hard to do because that's how I normally vape. I might be able to pull it off in my seat easier.

Patches and gum are terrible, I know. I share your symptoms with both of them, and I hate them. But I don't want you to get caught vaping and be on the news, either. Get some high ratio PG, high nicotine e-juice with little to no smell. Unflavored, even. Or as you said, try to sleep the time away. And good luck! I really would like to know how it goes for you.

I use Camel Snus on planes. One piece under my lip takes away the nicotine cravings. It's not as satisfying as actual vaping, but it helps. I can't do the gum either-makes me dizzy. A couple of years ago back when I was using 808 cigalikes, I did vape in the plane's bathroom with no consequences. That was before they had the no vaping policy on most major airlines. I am too scared to try it now.

As someone with a career in aviation for close to 30 years i would advise you to rethink this. I dont know how it is where your at but here, they dont play around. If you did something that cause a fire detection alarm, they would land as soon as practical and federal marshals would escort you off the plane and bring you to your new residence. Have a good friend who is an airline caption out of Bahrain and he tells me they dont play around over there either.

Usually on planes I put a sweatshirt over my face (the hood part, I like sleeping on planes). Doing that, I could easily take an Evod tank and take a short puff or two. "Ghosting" the hit is the most important part though. I recommend holding it in for at least 10 seconds, that should guarantee that no vapor comes out.

You really REALLY don't wanna freak people out by blowing even the tiniest bit of vapor. People will see "smoke" and begin to panic (probably).

Also worth mentioning, they make "stealth juice" and igetha69 did a review on it rather recently. It looks pretty legit, the vapor production is near none, and if you were to ghost it I'd be REALLY surprised if there was any vapor at all.

This is good information-I won't even consider trying it then.
My wife and I stealth vaped right in our seats. Short hits, hold it in longer and blow anything into a blanket or something. :)
I will try this only if I get really hard up for a nic fix. I'm not planning on chain vaping, just a hit every few hours over the course of a 20 hour flight.

I just got back from my trip and thought I would share my experience vaping on a plane. I took about 10 flights over the last 3 weeks, so I was able to see variety of situations. On small domestic flights in the US, don't even bother. I did vape right in my seat on the bigger international flights and no one even noticed. I just made sure to hold the vapor in my lungs as long as possible so the vapor production was nearly non-existent. On the longer flights (14 hours), I pretty much chain vaped and no one noticed. The biggest problem was leaking. I doubt there are any tanks that would hold up to the air pressure changes. I just waited until we were at cruising altitude and filled up then. I didn't even bother trying in the plane bathrooms, but in pretty much all of the airport bathrooms you can get away with it if you keep the vapor to a minimum.

What he said. It just isn't worth the risk.

Do what you did when you smoked, be a big boy and tough it out.
