But that's really another subject - what I'm talking about is how gov't has become 'helicopter parents' with adults. And gov't is the one who conflates the two, for purposes of controlling behavior because 'they know what's best'. And they can benefit from it monetarily as well - but only if they have control first. Without control there's no 'money to follow'. :- )
No, I got that. I was just adding to the discussion...

My concern is in determining what type of person is willingly voting...
For those who would regulate the freedom away...
And why they would do that...

It takes a village.
Who is it that actually WANTS that village?

For real or imagined 'safety'. Hence the Ben Franklin quote.... And many times the person who promotes it, is the one they elect.

It takes a village.

Eventually, only the person or persons who run it. It's collectivism vs. individualism. Individuals can help others but it only works when it's by choice/consent rather than force. When it's by force, the village is corrupt.

Watching Patrick McGoohan's "The Prisoner" should be mandatory for every Civics Class ...

This all seems to be the only logical conclusion in both cases.
And to those who already knew the answers the question was more of a rhetorical one.

But thanks for spelling it out for others to at least start thinking about.
:)

And I notice you didn't get into the "who votes for that" part.
I'm not willing to go there either.

If you like the theme of "old stuff that is shockingly relevant today", check out a 1971 movie called "The Anderson Tapes", especially if you're a Sean Connery fan (and who isn't ?) ...
