I quit all nicotine for 6 months, then was smoking a pack or two a week for maybe two months before going back to vaping fairly heavily a couple of weeks ago. In the last week or so I have been getting short of breath easily and chest pain when I walk, it seems to be worse when I am vaping very heavily. At the doctor's office today my oxygen was a bit low, it was 94% whereas usually it is around 98% (below 95% is considered unhealthy). The nurse just asked if I have been dizzy or lightheaded lately, I told her no. I'm a little worried about my lungs. I don't know whether to go to the emergency room (I had pulmonary embolism a few years ago that felt kind of similar) or cut back/stop vaping and see what happens. Input, anyone? Has anyone heard of something like this happening from vaping?

Doctor? Who needs em? Best bet is to try to find the answers on a forum full of doctors....like, ECF for example. I mean, as long as its nothing as serious as a hangnail or something. Little ailments like chest pain and shortness of breath, I think we're as good as anyone.

Have you tried a different brand of toothpaste? I hear that works for chest pain...

Chest pain and shortness of breath from exertion are usually signs of heart trouble more than lung trouble. I would get to a urgent care or ER and get at least and EKG and some basic blood work. There is no way we can diagnose you on the Internet.

I'm a board certified emergency nurse. FYI.

Definitely see a doctor, like others have suggested. Also, if you continue to vape, try VG only for a while and see if that helps. Some people are quite allergic to pg.

Disagree. VG is HEAVY on the Lungs. (onset COPD Here) Low oxygen is not a sign of Allergy. Also Op gave no Vaping Data to work from on recommendations.

Do people Read Post?

Op Said Went to Doctor TODAY.
What was the Doctors Advice? Recommendations?
Did you inform the Doctor you were Vaping Heavily?
Were you Vaping heavily before going in for testing?

Follow up with Professionals is advised.
Reduce/minimize/stop Vaping until you have an answer.

Sounds more like you had a Smoking Habit than a nicotine addiction and have no need for HEAVY Vaping.
If your lungs are struggling for normal oxygen levels anything additionally introduced into the air way is robbing you of oxygen availability.

Emergency rooms are the worst place to find answers. They are for critical care and often Rush to Conclusions.
* Example - Surgery Required - remove Gaul Bladder............Turned out to be Esophagus damage :glare:
**Kept the Gaul Bladder intact:D

:lol::lol::lol:

OP: Go see your doctor and get an appointment with a Pulmonologist make sure to be honest with your doctors and tell him/her you've been vaping and what symptoms you're having. We're not doctors, never substitute professional care with advice on a forum especially with your background having had a Pulmonary Embolism.

Thanks guys. I'll take a vitamin and switch my toothpaste.

I have been ignoring the shortness of breath as a sensitivity to vaping and have been cutting back a bit and thought no big deal. I went to the doctor for something unrelated today and wasnt told my oxygen level until I was handed a slip with my vitals when I was leaving. I didn't look at it until I got home and realized my oxygen was only 94%. I realized in retrospect that is probably why the nurse came in and asked me if I felt lightheaded or faint. Which I did not.

I don't know how much I trust vaping anymore. It contains formaldehyde, yes it is lower level than cigarettes but then again the molecules are bigger and who knows how that affects our lungs. Then there is the diacetyl thing, yes it is a small fraction of the diacetyl in cigarettes but who knows what THAT molecule size is and how it will affect us?

Also, my lungs are not damaged from the pulmonary embolism I had a few years ago.

I do. It doesn't.

Unless of course you are literally frying your coils and willfully continuing to inhale the most god-awful combination of burnt wicking material and foul over-cooked e-liquid, formaldehyde should be of no concern.

Didn't know where to post this question from a friend..but since some of you are more knowledgeable about health and vaping here goes:

Is it possible that I could be getting migraines from certain flavorings? I had not had one in over a year and now 2 in a weeks time. I think it may be my beloved fruit circles or another component of the mix :/

Thanks guys and no worries if you are as confused as I am.

Why don't you let a qualified specialist around your area make the assessments. American Thoracic Society - Thoracic Society Chapters

As was posted by another member. Juice doesn't contain formaldehyde.
This is misinformation.

You also previously posted:

Does anyone here just puff most of the time? I like puffing because I get the flavor better. I used PVs off and on for about a year and would inhale mouth-to-lungs, then I quit nicotine all together for about 6 months, then went back to cigs. Getting back into vaping now and just have a little mistic bridge (off-topic: I would like to get an ego-CC by joyetech since the 1000mah kits on their site are on sale for $20 right now, but out of stock :( ) and I find myself just puffing on it with minimum inhale, just pulling a little into my throat.

Is there an implied relation? :sneaky:

Combined, I think something is highly amiss here.
