My Great Grandparents moved to the Arizona desert long before air conditioning, summers must have been brutal.
Soithern Arizona is beautiful.
Its hot as hell in the summer, but its awesome once the heat passes.

Im actually looking at buying some property there next year.

One of the wierdest things about AZ is the brown paint.
Every building I saw was painted brown. Signs are brown. Bridges, overpasses, gas stations....
Brown.
State buildings? Yep. Brown.

Did someone have a sale on brown paint?

My favorite part of the state is Southeast in the Chiricahua Mountains. Although there are a lot of beautiful mountain ranges in southern AZ. I think most of the brown signs are from the national park service, blends in with their environment. I grew up in a neighborhood where the stop signs said Whoa.

It's all relative. I would definitely call that extreme cold.

Just as you would probably call this extreme heat...

I was in Sedona a few years back and even McDonalds signs have to be earthy tones. Govt wants all signs to blend into the surroundings IIRC.

My son is in Pheonix now visiting his girlfriend. It has been over 110F. "Dry heat" or not, that is friggin' hot!

August is our wettest month, not really a dry heat this time of year.
