Element I haven't found any abalone encased in resin big enough...but would something like this come a little closer.

Not a huge fan of wood nor purple but for that I would make an exception any day!

WOW, nice ... I'm like you, I've found some breath taking blocks, and then I find out they are something like 1 5/8 instead of the 1 7/8 they need to be :censored:
Then I think ... gee's isn't that close enough ????

It is close enough if V does an inlay down the center, sandwich style.
You could go with scale thickness if he uses that technique and purchase some truly wild stuff.

I think I understand what your saying.
Would you happen to know where I can see an example of one done that way.
That would open a whole new world of choices

Has anyone heard from Vaughan?.
He checked out and Ok'd a block for me on 1-28, at 2am in the morning
Thinking I might be able to get two mods, the next day, I sent a link for a second block for him to check out, and I never heard back. He just kinda disappeared over night
Sure hope he's just off having fun.

I have worked with this stuff in the past, and can get thin lazer cut strips laminated in resin into a sheet, and can use this on a wood substrate. Very pretty stuff...

Hi all, so sorry for my absence, There have been thing to be dealt with in the last weeks, I won't go into detail, but rest assured all is well, and I'm back on board! There will be more periods of a few days where I must break away, But nothing has changed, mods will be built, and creative juice will be brought in by the look of some of these lovely blocks that have been posted and funky ideas like the paua shell and such. Looking forward to being back in full swing after this period away!
