The rule of thumb for EVERY vape device you'll ever own is the same (when running in power or wattage/voltage mode). Turn your voltage/wattage down, take a few hits, bump it up, couple more hits. Repeat until you find your "sweet spot". If it starts to taste funny, gets too hot or tastes burnt, back it down. Different flavors will have different sweet spots so you just have to experiment.
If you're using pre-packaged coils, they usually come with a recommended wattage. But, like Susan~s said, even if you have that, it's best to start at the lowest recommended wattage and slowly work your way up to where it tastes good.
Kanger more or less make up the numbers to look cool and impress their potential buyers. Start low and take it easy. The latest SSOCC heads with the bonus juice holes are the best yet but take the top end figure as theoretical max, not a sure thing.
I hope I can MTL on this tank. I read somewhere you could adjust airflow to give you a nice hit. I can use 1.5 ohm coils and use the RBA to create more. So I'll be fine.

Don't get me wrong, I am first to say most subtanks are rubbish for genuine MTL vaping... BUT you can shut the toptanks down to almost nothing these days and put on a slim drip tip.
I did it yesterday actually. I found some 12mg fruit liquid (I've quit 12mg) and put a Kayfun style drip tip on a subtank with almost no airflow. Job done.
