    My Predictions for 2016:

    - an increase of 30% more vapers to the mid to high end vaping (mech mods, box mods, regulated and unregulated), signalling a move away from and the death of ecigs
    - gas stations, Convenience, White Hen, 7-11 stores all across the country will become full line vape stores, and carry a minimum of 50 premium juices, killing the market for vape stores
    - vape stores all begin to carry tobacco, as they see the writing on the wall that they are going to be regulated and licensed as tobacco
    - nickel will fall out of favor as a wire type, as we solidify our stance on healthy vaping
    - box mods by the end of the year will all have TC for Kanthal
    - more tanks with 2/3/4 coils following in the footsteps of Smok TFV4
    - more tanks with clapton coils available, and they will be of a fancier manufacture than the current Aspire solution
    - manufacturers will expand premade wire solutions (2/3/4 twisted, clapton, stapled, etc.), and the prices will begin to fall
    - more RDAs with 24mm base, and possibly larger
    - more regulated 3 battery 18650's
    - more regulated 2 battery 26650's
    - surge in sale of unregulated box mods by the end of the year as people look for solutions to not being able to buy off the shelf hardware due to FDA and local rules
    - far more DIY going on
    - prices, which were falling for mech/mod devices may begin to reverse trend by the end of the year due to hoarding for fear FDA and local rules will make them difficult to obtain
    - before the FDA litigates their first case, more regulation at the State, County, City level
    - emergence of vape hardware and juice black market by the end of the year, as soon as people find there is no rolling back regulations
    - all juice prices move up in price, but raw materials for DIY more than double in cost, as DIY takes off
    - batteries improve by 20% in mah and amps delivered, led by Panasonic who was working with Tesla on their electric car
    - emergence of virus/trojan attack on vape hardware via bluetooth and upgrade path to mod, turns and attacks personal computers of users at work and home

A previously undiscovered 2km sun-grazing asteroid will appear from the inside Earth's orbit, slam into Asia somewhere and obliterate all life on the planet.

This is statistically as probable as some of the other predictions made here.

Play big or go home.

One never knows does one....

    2016?

No doubt ill upset a few (possibly tens of thousands) here, but well opinions are like molester uncles, everybodys got one.

    - More grey hairs
    - More headlines about idiots blowing their faces off with mech mods, or pipe bombs lying in wait as i prefer to think of them
    - The Kayfun v6 - now with 196 parts, and double the price of the last one
    - An off the shelf 400w box mod, and ironically, as with almost all of the current 200w ones, with temp control
    - My fervent hope that a small segment of mad watts chasers will reverse the trend of making it look like 200w (and up) mods are mainstream, especially in forums, especially to newbies
    - Sanity will return and the most batteries you can fit in a mod will return to 2, because managing proper battery care and balancing is a task enough with those. And safety should be more valued, certainly more than it currently is.
    - More melting RX200's
    - More hype based tanks that fail to deliver - some things will probably not change ever
    - More hype based coils that fail to deliver - maybe someone can get a ceramic coil to work, it wasnt anyone this year.
    - Smok will come up with a v8 and flat 6 boxer coil
    - A return to the sanity of using a single coil because its about not smoking, not the equivalent of popping the hood and showing people how many cylinders you have
    - People will stop presenting claptons and stapled this and tiger that coils as more efficient, and call them what they are, coil porn and nothing more
    - Hopefully better battery tech
    - Hopefully uniform laws across Australia and the ability to buy nicotine locally
    - Hopefully a fully screwless/toolless rebuildable deck
    - A Provari made from Unobtainium/Adamantium so the Provari cultists can look down upon the rest of us with even more imperiousness than normal....
    - Hopefully a Lemo 3, with a fill method that even Phil Busardo can fill without going into a haterant :) :)
    - Hopefully another season of Scorpion, because even though it has the worst string of completely inplausable storylines, one never gets tired of looking at Kat McPhee

The trend for vapers this year and forward is that insurance companies consider anything that causes nicotine/cotinine levels to rise above zero to be an opportunity to raise the rates. 50% more is the norm and the rates for those above the poverty level are alarming.

The biggest changes to come in 2016 may cripple our hardware and juice choices if the FDA gets their way. Join CASAA and help convince your government that vaping is a safer alternative to tobacco. Vaping hardware introduced after 2007 could be illegal.

CASAA - The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association

Guest Post: What Will Vaping Look Like if Regulations Pass?

If current proposed federal regulations are implemented as-is, essentially all vaping products would be banned immediately or over the course of a number of years.

    How can this happen?

The potential pitfall comes from the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act of 2009, which is the law that brought e-cigarettes under the control of the FDA to begin with. This law allows that tobacco products on the market before February 2007 may remain without further hurdles. However, items that were marketed afterwards are required to go through FDA approval. The only devices released after February 2007 that would get an “easy pass” towards approval would be devices that are “substantially equivalent” to the devices released prior to that date. For those who would seek to have the device approved, they are walking into “basically uncharted territory”–it is expected that companies would be forced to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars on a per-product basis for a process that could take years in order to have their product approved.

Unfortunately, therefore, the question begins to become: “what were the eCigs that were around back in 2007?”

Some examples include the Janty Yentl, ePipes, and devices made by Ruyan such as the Ruyan v8. Of course, these are mostly cigalikes. Unfortunately, this is not where the misery stops. Most of them are of extremely low quality (take a quick look at the Janty Yentl), and look like they would fall part with being touched the wrong way.

Their battery capacity is extremely small–about 150mAh to 180mAh per battery. This means that you’ll be required to carry around 3 or 4 batteries in your pocket throughout the day. Let’s not forget about the fact that they only use cartridges rather than refillable tanks, and their extremely low atomizer life. These combined leave a device that has essentially no ability to customize or to control items such as air flow and flavor.

For the first half of 2016 I expect to see innovation in atomizer and regulated mod technology continue at its current pace with reduced prices for gear becoming the norm. Ready made juice will improve in quality and variety, the "golden age of vaping" will -seem- unabated.

Mid to late year I expect the FDA will finally begin regulating the industry, local and state government's fevered push for control and taxes will increase with many legislating face-to-face purchase requirements for juice and liquid nic, a prerequisite to the much higher taxation that will eventually follow. 2016 will be the last year many people (but not all), will be able to enjoy the freedoms we all currently take for granted. 2016 will mark the beginning of the end for most, each year thereafter will see yet higher taxes and diminished variety/availability. By 2018 it will likely be cheaper and easier to just smoke tobacco for everyone except those who planned ahead and stockpiled.

Enjoy our "golden age" while you still can, party like there's no tomorrow.

Governments Hate To Admit The Advantages Of Vaping

"Since 2009, Health Canada has taken the position that e-cigarettes containing nicotine are illegal. But out on the streets, Health Canada is simply being ignored. There's a brisk trade in vaping supplies including nicotine."
