Why am I not being automatically logged in?

I never used to have to log in each time I visited the site.

I've deleted all the old cookies and checked the "Keep me Logged In" box, but whenever I close my browser and reopen it, I have to log in again.

I'm using Chrome under XP.

I don't post often, but if I have to log on each time, this forum will be dead to me.

Do you maybe have your browser set to clear cookies each time you close it?

Yes, cookies are deleted but I put the e-cig-forum cookie on the whitelist, so it remains.

This is exactly how it was with the old software, and I was automatically logged in. Now, I'm not.

You may want to whitelist cloudflare as well.

I've noticed this as well. If I log in using a link to the new alerts page I have to relog, but if I use a link to main forums page there's no need to login. Is that what you're doing?

I have a separate bookmark for each board and one for a specific thread. At first, under this new software, clicking on any forum meant having to sign in, but I was automatically logged in when I clicked on the individual thread. But that sign-in didn't carry over, i.e. I could respond or like within that thread, but when I went to any board, I'd have to sign in.

I'm trying one last thing -- removed all cookies and bookmarks for this forum, logged-in (now), whitelisted the new cookies and created new bookmarks. If this doesn't keep me automatically logged in, I doubt I'll continue with this forum (the moderators' cavalier attitude towards the discrimination which prevents me from using one board or being a contributing member has long irked me anyway).

@FantWriter hopefully creating the new bookmarks will solve your issues. It is hard for us to recreate the issues that you may be having. The only thing we can do is guess as to the reason why they are happening. It seems that it is only in a few isolated cases and not across the board.

The old bookmarks are not going to work if you're thinking it'll keep you signed in. All the old bookmarks point to http. We've since gone to secure SSL which results in a URL starting with https. You'll have to redo your bookmarks with the updated links.

Now I've updated the bookmarks to HTTPS they work fine. Good point.

I should have known that -- when another forum I visit changed software a year ago, they said, in several notices, that we'd have to make all new bookmarks as well as deleting previous cookies.

Unfortunately, I forgot until Shirtbloke mentioned previously made links.

Update: erasing all cookies (both through Chrome and by CCleaner) and creating new bookmarks works, for a while. Then it doesn't. I read somewhere the cookies have to be recreated every time the site certificate updates. I'm not entirely sure what that means.

All I know is I'll be automatically logged on for a day or two, then I have to sign in again. If anyone isn't getting a 'Like' they deserve, it's because I'm too lazy to sign in to do it.
