Figured I would spend some time figuring out how to make covers for Ego type batteries.
Kind of challenging to make them so that they can be changed to the new batts when the old ones croak.
Very simple shapes for now. Concentrating on the finish for now. CA then friction polish then HUT wax.
Slight dimple for ease of button access

That's pretty sweet, do the finishes hold up well enough to getting juice spilled on them?

I figure if it's kept waxed the occasional juice spills will not wrech them I'd be worried about these splitting. You ought to use the thinnest one heavily and maybe find out? Or is it only some parts of a given piece of wood cut on a certain grain that even can split? Very classy. Do they use the orings inside?

No O-rings, so far not needed.
I have been using several coats of CA, then a friction polish, then several coats of HUT wax.
I haven't noticed any issues with juice yet.
Normally, if they split, it is when I test fit the battery. That is just part of the joy of working with highly figured wood!
Of course dropping is frowned upon. Hehehe
I am expermenting with more size, just has to look nice and be comfortable.
Check out this one, nice dimple for the button.
The grain is just insane. 1000 mah Ego.
