After holding out for over a week I finally caved and bought one more. Gawd, I must be nuts. Number 259 Yelow Heart Padauk blem. I might be looking for a new place to live when the wife finds out. (She's been away for two weeks)

That is gorgeous. You only live once. Sit down and figure out once again how much money you're NOT sending up in smoke.....then relax and enjoy your new toys.

Oh that is a beauty. If ONLY I COULD........:D

Has the entire Universe fallen asleep. :)

Unbelievable that their are STILL some absolutely gorgeous ones left.

Perhaps the fence sitters would prefer to wait another 12-18 months for the next run. /humor /lol /no offence intended /mild snark

:)

The fence sitters are probably frantically trying to get the money, or they just can't afford it. I would like to have 2-3 more. But, that isn't gonna be able to happen, sadly. Picking some beauties is not the problem. It is having the MONEY to get them. That is the problem. I would imagine that is probably the case for others as well. After I have been using this Woodvil I bought, I am in love with these things. But it is a major, and I do mean MAJOR purchase for me. I am saving as I can, for the next run. Maybe if I am lucky, I can get two next time.

I am just wondering, if there were ever purple heart woodvil's made with a poly finish? All of them on this run were a oil finish, after having one for a while, it just looks like it would look very nice with a poly coat. Is it because of the possible change of color over time?

Thanks

Wish I could answer that for you but that was back in 2011 and I no longer have it. It never seemed to have changed colors while I had it.

That's okay, just wondering, my oak one is poly, and I kind of think the reason that my purple heart would darken, would be from the oil in the skin being absorbed into the wood, I also like shiny things. :)

Purpleheart does go through color changes naturally after harvested. The ones that matter to you is after made into a finished project. It has already become a more pronounced purple by then than it was when first harvested. In time without UV protection it will change to dark brown with traces of purple. Poly will seal it from oxidation, eliquids and can from UV depending on the poly application. If yours just has mineral oil and you stay with that you will have to protect it on a regular basis, including from UV a very good idea, and most likely it will still eventually get darker.

There are actually a couple of poly purple hearts this run, just can't remember the numbers right off the top of my head.

This one arrived today and I posted pictures in the other thread.

Oh, and I'm still alive. Wifey returned on Wednesday and she had a much, much larger sum of money with her than she had when she left. She had a very profitable trip to the casino. Of course she was still a little upset about all the new Woodvils until I told her to just keep all the money for herself. I think she thought I was going to ask her for money to pay for them. I might be a fool, but I'm not an idiot.:lol::lol:
