So

@DC2

How do you propose we accomplish these warning labels coming from EVERY B&M other than overreaching legislation?

Which, other than voluntarily via lawsuits sweeping the nation, is the only way in sight...

I propose you haven't thought this through replacing emotion with pure logic and thought.

Which is disappointing.

That's not like you IME...

In the interest of moving forward. What key pieces of information would be on a sheet that is included with every battery/device purchase? Let's see if we can agree on that.
Neon orange warning wrapped around the battery...

THIS THING IS FREAKING DANGEROUS AND CAN "EXPLODE" IN YOUR FACE.
LEARN HOW TO KEEP YOUR FACE INTACT.
(link provided here)

In other words, heck if I know.

But I did get a warning like the above on my last battery purchase.
The wording may have differed though.

I already know a bunch of people who will object to my suggestion above.
They would probably prefer the words "vent in your face" which nobody would understand.

So yeah.
;)

I don't think anything should be enforced by regulations.

As I keep saying...
I only care about calling people stupid if they don't know what they don't know.

It's really nothing more than that for me.
But it's something I care enough about to subject myself to this every now and then.

EDITED TO ADD:
Eventually the B&Ms that don't do it will be sued out of existence.
So that will take care of itself in the long run.

Yes, I object to blatant lies to the general public.

But knowing this wouldn't work ...

What makes you think more than one word would be useful in this ADHD society?

Then with all due respect, why are you so adamant about this topic?
You are clearly not a "normal person" when it comes to this topic.

And if asked I would add Bad Ninja and Cheallaigh to that list.
You all seem to have specialized knowledge and expect others to have it as well.

This is what I have been saying all along.

EDITED TO ADD:
And by the way, I took wood shop and metal shop.
Neither of which involved batteries.
;)

I also took typing, which was by far the most useful class I ever took.
And that also did not involve batteries.

I have no specialized knowledge of batteries or electronics.
I can read, and my Google-fu is pretty strong.
I have specialized knowledge in manufacturing which relates loosley to making a mech, but my vape knowledge is from simple research done on a cell phone and experience repairing mechanicals and hardware issues in regulated mods.
Its really not that complicated.
See?
Im a normal person just like most vapers here.

Although I can understand how my awesomeness may lead some to think otherwise.

i got my first main computer, it was a tandy 1000... then i got an MMX 166 and my at the time young boys and a freak lightning strike to powerlines(300 miles away, it sure can travel) destroyed my computer... so rather than pay 70$ an hour to a local shop, i took a course and learn how to fix and build my own computers. i've been doing this for almost 20 years now. i used to get told i shouldn't know how to deal with electronics, or cars(helped rebuild a 440 demon with a siezed block at 16) for that matter, because i'm a woman... really, my knowledge was hard earned and deliberate. rather than getting a pat on the head and listening to the "don't worry about it", i went out and actively learned about the devices i use. my knowledge isn't specialised, it can be easily looked for on the net, and i'm not afraid to look for more... how else would i have found this site?

oh and beck, either you forgot or it's the corrosive sign that is not working for those warnings. yeah i took WHMIS as well...

Meh

I fixed the explosives one.

That was good enough for me.

I'd had enough @ 75 mph at that point.

I'm just a dumb old truck driver.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

BTW; I wasn't going to mention how insulting it was that "people aren't born with this knowledge" yet we're somehow special by atmospheric osmosis.

I worked flipping hard to have a couple dozen decent paying professions to fall back on.

And I'm still killing myself.

My spare time is work.

My fun time is work.

My hobbies are work.

My kids work harder than most adults I know before noon.

And I'm supposed to pander over someone not willing to figure out the simplest concepts on their own... and feel bad for them?

A little personal anecdote on warnings.

A friend on my pool team who has been vaping on an Ego for a while was looking to get into PV's and settled on the Pico. She asked me where to buy batteries and i recommended a site i had bought from before. I haven't bought batteries since late 2014 or so, but i told her where i bought batteries in the past. I saw her last Tuesday, and asked if she ordered the batteries. She told me that she had changed her mind and is sticking with the Ego. When i asked why, she told me of the following warning which is on EVERY SINGLE PRODUCT PAGE on the site :

⚠ WARNING:

The use of lithium ion rechargeable batteries with e-cigarettes, vaporizers, or other similar products, constitutes a DANGEROUS misuse of the battery cell that poses a SERIOUS RISK of personal injury, property damage, or death. These cells are only for use with proper protection circuitry within system integrations or battery packs with a BMS (battery management system) or PCB (circuit board/module) and are not intended by the manufacturer for use with such products. BATTERIES MAY EXPLODE, BURN, OR CAUSE A FIRE if used with e-cigarettes, vaporizers, or similar products.

I tried to go into a little detail about batteries and battery safety, but she was having none of it. I didn't really care to push the issue though, since she has been able to keep off cigarettes for the past few months using an Ego, and in the end that's what really matters.

Not really sure if there is a moral to this story, or even if this warning was there when i ordered, and i just ignored it, or if it's a more recent addition, but i thought i'd share the story anyway :)

my mom called a few days ago... told her i quit smoking, she asked how... when i told her it was via vaping she freaked. this is a woman who's been smoking since before i was born, probably at least 50 years... but she went on about the dangers of vaping and the batteries, all of it misinformed, my home province has a lovely set of asinine videos currently for teens. against vaping of course, showing them playing with toxic goo of all things, comparing that to vaping. since she's an utter techno-phobe, i finally had to point out, i know what i'm doing and she hasn't a clue... but the warnings!

there has to be a happy medium... sadly there are too many mental midgets out there, even if something was in plain sight they would ignore it, or it's extremism...

The problem with all these exploding batteries is a lot of inexperienced vapers
treat their batteries as if they were AA cells.
Vape batteries are mini bombs in the wrong hands.

You think AAA cells wont explode?
Where did you get that information?

Everything I learned about power, it was thru trial and error.

For instance: DON'T lick the terminals on a 9 volt
DON'T play with an alternator in a running engine
DON'T stick a knife in a toaster while it's toasting
DO just laugh at my obvious chicanery

I did that as a kid for a dare... I won a whole bag of candy.... :pervy::blush:

Licking a 9-Volt-battery is not sooo harmful...it is ok for testing if it is new or weak. Did that always...no marks on my tongue.

Sure a AAA can explode if shorted...anyhow.

Battery exposion caused by loose change...keys...is as credible as winning in Lotto.

Everybody may believe what he wants.
