I would try a multimeter,I was surprised to see that 2 of my bad ones just really needed a good steam out. (with distilled water)

I have a Ncig and a 801,I love them both but the Ncig has given me the most trouble from the atmo's.The 801 from vaporguys seems to be holding it's own with good vap and throat hit.

I have been doing something kinda like you are are talking about. And I must say you will be amazed on how fast things add up.Before I knew it I had like 700 us dollars in it,although I haven't touched a analog (reg cig) for a while.

I carry mine in my shirt pocket (LED down) But I am reall carefull not to get it around cell phone or something metal. It is a battery and I dont know but shortin it out.

I have the same exact problem I just recevied mine last week..and it is doing the same thing. I am waiting for steve from puresmoker to get done with his move to see if he will stand good for it. As it is the battery is no good now
