    Wicking Material

One last post and I will quit..... did you try this test with nichrome? The main point I was trying to make is that it is really hard to make a self-shorting coil with this stuff, and if you actually try it you will find that out too. Giving up now....

    Amperage of atomizer coil

Okay, I have some fun results to report--doing the little experiment of cooking wires with a lighter while measuring resistance. I was so amazed by what I was seeing that I did it over and over, and always got the same thing-- My 901 factory att wire--almost no change in resistance when heated...

    Amperage of atomizer coil

A simple and fun experiment you can do is to take apart one of your dead atomizers and salvage the coil wire. Then attach your leads to it, put your meter to test ohms, and heat the wire with a cigarette lighter while watching the meter. The resistance will go smoothly up as you heat the wire...

    Wicking Material

You 'read' some idle speculation by someone who was too lame to do a simple 5th grade batteries-and-wires experiment. It is in fact very difficult to wind a self-shorting coil from oxidized stainless. If you heat the wire to red heat with a lighter before you wind the coil it will become...

    Nichrome wire?

The ones I have from bestecig.com do not have a wick, just some tiny rock-hard little doodad that the coil is wound around. I can't figure out what it is made of. Maybe ceramic but doesn't seem like it, more like a bit of hard plastic. It didn't seem to be melted.

    Wicking Material

I don't think you need a wicking material, or any support for the coil. I made an open coil with a single strand of wire from Berkeley 45 lb test Steelon nylon coated leader wire, ~ 1 ohm/inch, and put a coil made from 2 inches of it into a 901 atomizer. No wick or support, just the coil, and...

    Nichrome wire?

Quote Drewsworld, I think the purpose of the stainless wire you are referring to is to make the connections from the batt connector to the atty coil. Not for the coil itself. S.S. will not work for the coil itself. It does not share the same heating characteristics as Nichrome. Quote No, the...

Braided stainless leader wire for att coils

OK, finally some pics. This coil was just for grins, it is 1/8 inch long (3mm). The idea was to find some kind of coil that was up to the high power battery mods we have been making, the 901 is useful but still it is a toy. I think that 1 mm crimp beads would be a good way to attach one. I...

Braided stainless leader wire for att coils

Of course voltage and resistance cover current draw- Ohm's Law to the rescue! If the wire has 2 ohms resistance it is going to pull exactly 2.25 amperes from a 4.5 volt source. Ohm's law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The point is that this wire is readily available, has the right...

Braided stainless leader wire for att coils

Hello mods and modesses-- I went to the crafts supply to look for thin stainless wire for making a sturdier atomizer heating coil, and didn't find it. However, when I got home I noticed the nylon coated stainless braided wire fishing leaders in the garage, looked like just the ticket. I'm...

    atomizer disection and re-assembly

I took apart a 901 atomizer, I guess from a different mfgr, and found a couple of differences-- The brass threaded part was *super difficult* to remove, turns out it has axial striations on it to hold it in place after it is press-fit into the stainless tube. Next time I am going to take a...

How do you mix juice packs?

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was wondering about some EtOH in there. Just cutting 10% with water didn't seem to do it. What I am trying to do is cut some 36 I got from you waaaaay down. You are doing us a great service removing the mystery from the commercial juice.

How do you mix juice packs?

This probably isn't the right place to ask, but I keep having trouble with 100% VG giving a super-hard pull through a 901 atomizer, i.e. clogging it up. I have been cutting with water to try to get the right % but it is very difficult to get it right. Do you have any suggestions for cutting...

I am sad. I cut some 36mg juice 50/50 with glycerin and vaping it makes me feel yucky. Anyone else have this problem?

Baloney. USP means it has been put through extra tests to be sure it has no impurities. It has never made me sick, perhaps it has a different effect on vegetarians. Spend more if you want. What is making the original poster sick is the nicotine.

    Volts/Amps?

If you are really curious about this stuff you can buy a VOM, which is short for Volt-Ohm meter, and check the resistance of your atomizers. It is a good thing to have, to see if they are really dead. My 901 atomizers from bestecig.com are 2.2 ohms, I had two which had pooped out. Put them on...
