As far as swabbing for nicotine at customs... I don't believe they could do this. I think it would come out positive every time someone who smokes cigarettes touches a package. So they would have to deal with more false positives than would be feasible.

The cord that goes between the wall and plugs into the charger is a pretty standard cord. You might have some lying around from old radios, old laptop power inverters etc. I can't imagine it being more than a few bucks at radio shack or walmart.
