Well, look at this way. I'm going to be poor for the rest of my life. 
Everyone has a passion. I am not a believer in "giftedness." At least, not in myself, You work hard at what you love to become proficient at it. If I *weren't* a decent writer after all the work I've done, I'd be shocked.
So find a passion and get good as hell at it.
