  • Hi. When im running a 0.12 ohm build, taking 2-3 second pulls on a single 18650 mod(unreg) do I calculate the amp draw b4 or after sag under load? Meaning my batt is @ 4.15v at full charge, but at that super low build, and batt sag, voltage drop, drop under load, im probably really hitting 3.7v when I press that button, so do I calculate 0.12ohm @ 4.15v to get amp draw, or 0.12ohm @ 3.7v?

If it drops to 3.7V and you want to know the amount of current actually flowing then use 3.7V. You would also need to know the voltage drop through your mod so measure the voltage at the atomizer posts.

If you want a bit of a safery margin then use 4.2V.

Thanks. I thought thats what i would do. I didnt feel like i was pulling 35 amps or more (in 2-3 sec pulses) and Vaping at 145 watts so i assumed that after everything else comes into play, the voltage drops significantly and im really pulsing closer to the 20 amp continuous rating, which makes me happy! Still, its better to ask and be safe than be a know-it-all! Thanks. Big help!
Im being told by a shop owner who apperantly tested efan batteries. They claim to be 40 amp continuous 3000 mah

She might have a degree in electrical enginering but they do not teach battery science and testing as part of getting that degree. She probably did what so many do, confuse a battery rating with a battery capability.

Like any 15A or higher battery, the Efan can run at 40A. But that does not mean the battery can be rated at 40A. If it could then the 25R, HE2, HE4, VTC5, HG2, and 30Q could be rated at 40A.

    And they're not. :)

    Thank you
Hello again Mooch. I keep hearing about people speaking on Pulse Discharge when using their mechanical mods. Is pulse even relative to vaping? Some people say pulse is mili seconds while others think its fine to vape within there max pulse specs.
I got 2 LGHE418650 in my Kbox200w right now, and my resistance is 0.2, and the batteries are rated 20A, wich I´m then over by about 1A, should I be worried? Thanks and sorry!
Hello Mooch. I have been using a website called imrbatteries.com and have purchased multiple vtc4's. Ive had no problems with them but Im worried that they could be fake. Are there really any real Vtc's on the market concidering they stopped making them?
    hi..
have you ever heard of AWT IMR 18650??
are they true IMR or INR?
    are they really good?
cause the price tag is much higher than samsung 25R and LG HG2.

No need to wait for me to get back to you. :)
You can check which batteries I 've tested by looking in my blog.

I've tested a couple of AWT's and they were ok batteries but did not meet their ratings. They are IMR or IMR but I don't know which.
    Hi Mooch,

thanks alot for the great battery safety chart you made.

I got a regulated Kbox 200W and I just bought 2 Samsung 30Q at my local shop.

On the chart it seems to be the same thing as the 25R's Amp wise.. Am I right?

Should I be alright or should I exchange them for LG HE-4?

I'm sorry I'm kinda confused about all this and I want to be safe.

The 30Q's should be fine up to 150W or so if you're not chain vaping with crazy long pulls.
    Vaping_Racoon
Okay perfect, I plan on using up to 80W-100W maximum.
I got it for battery life more than for sick buildz.

    Thanks bro :p

I forgot to ask last time, is it valuable for any build (The 150W Limit)

Like would I be okay if I did a 0.2 or 0.3 ohms build firing it at 70-100 Watts?
Hey i was told you know your batteries, im planning on getting that rx200 and building up to .05 ohms i like my higher wattages between 100 and 150 which batteries would be best in this mod for me?
    supersaiyan
They werent specific on their wattage range so you think the hg2s are good up to 200 watts? If i wanted to push it that high
    supersaiyan
I actaully made a mistake on my first post i would be building up to .2 ohms and vaping at 100-150 maybe higher.
    Mooch
Yes, up to 200W is ok. Coil resistance doesn't matter with a regulated device (up to the limit of the mod).
So i was told your the one to ask about battery safety. I was wondering if you could tell me what batteries would be best for 2 devices. The Rx200 and the Snowman Mech. I'm usually building around .2ohm and above. But i might dive a little lower with the mech, but nothing under .1ohm. What would be the best battery choice's for these mods?.
Mooch, I just want to say thanks for doing all the testing you do and have done. It's value is priceless in a world where battery manufacturing is pretty much the wild west. Knowing how a battery will perform is the biggest unknown danger on the hardware side of vaping, and you manage to remove a great deal of that mystery.
With a series mod is the amps your drawing evenly distributed over all the batteries or can you only go to the CDR of one battery?
    Mooch
Each battery in series must be able to handle the total current draw. It is not divided.
