  • Hi Mooch, I know I'm going to feel like an idiot but I was reviewing your charger test results here and I only see results listed for the LUC4. Am I insane or is there only this one charger tested? I'm curious about results for the various NiteCore and other EFEST chargers.

Thanks so much for your fantastic contributions to the community. You're my hero.

Hi Mooch, great work you are doing, thanks & keep it up please.
One question, on FB you posted that you were going to test what the benefits are for marrying battery's. Did you finish that research & if so what are your findings.

    Thanks!
I am about 300 cycles in on the preliminary testing with about 1,050 more to go. Then it's another thousand cycles or so to test the various weird combos of mixed batteries. Probably not done until the end of the year.

I'm very excited about this test series as well!
Hey Mooch! Can you help me in choose a 26650 for my new DNA75 device? I'm in Europe, and the unique trusty vendor here is the Nkon shop. They say the Greens were discontinued and now are purples, but none of the Purple have the same ratings as the green. Can you help choosing a good battery for max battery life, for using at 50W max, from this list: https://eu.nkon.nl/rechargeable/26650.html ? Thank you!
    Mooch
Check my recently updated table of recommend batteries (see my blog). Any of the 26650's will be about the best available. The iJoy's are best with the Basen and Brillipower following closely behind in performance.

Thanks Mooch. Yes, I had seen all your tests. The only problem is that the only battery that you had recommended had been discontinnued (efest green), and all the efests purple selled by nkon dont match the rating of the ones you tested

Already figure it out. The Efest Metallic Purples 35A have the same rating as the green one in your tests. I will go with that :) .
Thanks for everything Mooch, you're a huge help for our community!
would like to get your opinion on these cells. dont expect much from a "fire" brand, but curious if you've tested them before or if you have anything to say about them in particular. https://www.fasttech.com/products/5202100

Not too much to say. As mentioned on that page they are low-amp rated protected batteries that are 70mm long. Could be 3.9A NCR18650B's. I haven't tested them as they probably wouldn't fit any mods.
Question about a battery I got with my kit.. Aspire icr 18650 3.7v Li-ion. Super High Discharge 40A. For high drain devices, 1800mAh. I'm wondering what the 40A is?
    Mooch
You can check my blog for the test results for that battery. I don't know what the 40A is supposed to be. It's a 25A battery. :)
GrimmGreen mentioned you again in his latest Vlog

From 2 days ago? I saw that one but was doing other things while it was on in the background so I must have missed it. Do you remember which segment it was in?

Towards the end in the retro vaping section, he was talking about what 26650 to put in a big mech.

Those aren't actually graphene batteries. They're just regular graphite-anode lipo's with some graphene, probably a sheet, added in. The addition of that graphene does nothing. True graphene batteries, AFAIK, have a lower nominal voltage.
Hey Mooch, can you give any advice on batteries WITH solder tabs, I have a couple of iStick 30's I'd like to find replacement batteries for.
    Mooch
Sorry, no idea. I don't know which cells are available with tabs.
    Mooch
Any luck? Wondering if you got my message too.
    GrmpyOldMan
Yes, sorry, I got your message. Not in a huge hurry, but was hoping you might have some ideas. No real luck so far.
    Mooch
Ahh, I haven't watched that yet!
I use Battery Mooch in some places because there is another Mooch out there. :)

I just came here for the exact same reason... To tell him of his mention! I dont buy into "famous" vapers but GrimmGreen is different. Hes the only famous vaper I follow and believe when he reviews a product....I do on the other hand buy into the hype associated with famous battery gurus, and revered electron wranglers
Hey Mooch. I've been curious why the new AW 18650 3000mah 20 amp battery is not in your recommended batteries graphic. Your tests suggested that is performed equally with the LG 18650 3000 20 amp HG2 battery, and even suggested it might be an LG re-wrap.

I've also written a new blog, and I hope you don't mind that I quoted your blog about battery charging. Guide to Choosing a Li-ion Battery Charger
    Mooch
No problem at all, great blog!
I didn't add the AW because the HG2 is easily available, usually at a lower price. The list is already too big now and I'll be removing some cells after I do the Samsung/Sony/LG shootouts soon.
Hey Mooch, if im trying to get the total voltage load on a certain build, using a specific atty and mech, how would one go about this? My multimeter is always on auto so theres no voltage to add/subtract like on different multimeters. Do i put the black on neg post, red on positive post and press button? Do I do this only with the build installed or can i do it w/out to get another type of value?
    D
My multimeter is weird in that(I guess) a lot of them have a starting voltage that you have to subtract later on after you have your testing results, but mine does not. The multimeter i have is automatic (im thinking this is the feature) causing it to only show a result if it is touching something. Otherwise it just throws random numbers
    Mooch
The random numbers are normal. As long as it reads 0.00V when you touch the probes together firmly you're ok.

You can read the voltage at any time. If the button is not being pressed then you'll read a very low voltage that changes constantly because no voltage is being applied to the coil.
    Mooch
If you read the voltage when there is no coil, and you press the button, you may or may not read the battery voltage depending on what type of mod you have. But there is no load on the battery.

You have to press the button and fire the coil to know what voltage the battery drops to when you're vaping. Readng the voltage at the posts is the best way to to this.
Hi Mooch! Will charging 3 batteries in the nitecore i4 not properly marry them since two batteries will be charged at 375ma and one at 750ma? Use for Reuleaux rx200
