Sorry, I have not tested it. If it can charge 2 cells at 2A each that is 2 x 2A x 4.2V = 16.8W of charging power. What is the voltage for the 3A input? If it is 12V then you have 12V x 3A = 36W of power available for charging and running the circuitry,

I believe it's 5V, because the USB QC charger I'm using lists 3A/5Vb, 2A/9V, 1.5A/12V as its output options.
Which is the main reason I doubt it's putting 4A into the batteries. I will try to find out its wattage.
One note, whether its because of how the brain functions on the UMS4 or what, but,it took twice as long to charge 2 of the same batteries at same starting voltage as my UM4 @ 1.5A/slot.

Check the Nitecore web page for the specs for your charger. It shows that you are limited to 2A total charging unless you have a QC charging adapter. Then you can go up to 4A total charging current.

Hmm...you’re using a QC charger though. It might not be communicating properly with the charger and it’s staying at 5V. Do you have a USB tester?
DJ Colonel Corn
nope, no USB tester.... hm
well the meter shows just under 2000mA on each battery.
but still takes just as long if not longer to charge than 1500mA on um4.
DJ Colonel Corn
Also, 5V is what I want I believe, because that's the maximum amperage allowed for 5V (3A). 9V is 1.5A, 12V is 1A.
DJ Colonel Corn
OK, the nitecore site for ums4 days 18 watts.
Lists "3A" on the box, then says 2000mA per slot.

What meter? How are you confirming 2A per battery? Are you referring to the charger display? Try a different QC adapter. If QC charging can go above 18W then try a higher power adapter. Those two chargers might end a charge using different criteria. The UM4 might not charge the batteries as fully as the UMS4.
DJ Colonel Corn
My meter has been 'borrowed', so all I can go by is the charger meter. Both um4 and ums4 charge to 4.2 volts. um4 takes 1h 20m to charge while ums4 takes 3h 50m.
DJ Colonel Corn
The meters tell me 1500mA on each slot on um4, and on ums4 it claims 2000mA per slot, but I believe this must be false.
Tried two different QC chargers, same result.

It might be worth asking in the Batteries forum if anyone else has noticed this.
DJ Colonel Corn
Right on Mooch will do.
Thanks for all your help and all that you do !
I'll link you to the post when I create it..... <3

Uhhh so which Batteries Forum should I post in ?
Mooch
That looks like a good place to post but the sales reps who post in the forums often will nothing about the products. Perhaps tech support will.

There’s only one batteries/chargers forum.
