Hi everyone, it might be immaterial whether you mix by weight or volume. You will get the same result each time you make a recipe - as long as you use the same instruments. Accuracy only counts when trying to replicate someone else's recipe. At least that is what I think...
The way I read table 3, nicotine content of the essence varies from 1.92% to 7.14 % depending on the tobacco. They do not indicate which method of extraction for those numbers, but if it is alcohol, an average 5% of essence in the final mix will add .03% nicotine at the most.
I'd rather use a flavor that doesn't have that funk to begin with. That way I won't have to use another ingredient to mask it. Curious to know what you think of DS once it arrives.
Good article, thanks. But I am surprised they used stems rather than leaves. Or did I misread the article? One thing they indicate is that alcohol is a better medium than water for extraction. 12 hours is optimal - as originally indicated by str8.
P.S. Wow, this article was written in 1951!! I...
The only fruits that work with tobaccos for me are blueberry and raspberry. Nothing else seems to work; I have tried peach, plum and cherry without much luck.
Seven leaves tobacco has somewhat of a fruity profile by itself, but I am surprised some of you guys can vape it the next day. I mix it...
Quite possibly. Anyway I like the flavor profile(s). My only concern is whether we'd be able to get either one after regulations take effect.
As I recall I added a tiny bit of vanilla to Maxx and it was wonderful.
I have no doubt that Inawera buys most of their flavors from Flavor Art. I have found several of their flavors to taste exactly the same. Max Blend for example tastes the same as Dark for pipe.
I did an experiment to minimize the use of PGA since it is not readily available at my location. Made a hot extraction using a solution of 47% PGA, 47% Isopropyl alcohol and 6% water. Compared to Ethanol, the extraction came out just fine. It is a bit lighter both in color and flavor - but...
Desert Ship is usually associated with Turkish tobacco. Peter Stokebye carries two versions - Turkish84 and Turkish Export. LeafOnly also carries a couple of Turkish varieties.
I have fine tuned my wicking to a point where I only need 1.25 - 1.5 turns to get enough juice into the chamber. My mix is 75% Vg and 4% distilled water. Of course I am using Rayon. Cotton might be different.
I used lukewarm water to soak my tobacco for ten minutes, and then evaporated the extract approximately 20%. Used a shallow bowl next to a fan approx three hours. Quite honestly, I got plenty of flavor even at 15%. I suppose it depends on what type of tobacco you are extracting. Mine was Burley...
I heard somewhere that leaving tobacco in water more than 15 minutes is not advisable since bacteria begin to develop. I have no way to verify that for sure, but it seems reasonable. Besides, I am getting plenty of flavor with only a 10 minute soak.
