RBAs should be cleaned with hot soapy water before the first use to remove machining lubrication. I also rinse with alcohol while it's wet to ensure good drying and eliminate hard water deposits.

A possible problem might be your power source, if it can't put out the amp's necessary DCCs don't perform well. Are you using an ego type or an 18350 powered mod? if so, that might be the issue.
Probably with thicker gauge wire. I like to run 28 or 26 gauge for my rebuildables.
