    that makes sense. New AW cells will charge well on the pila. Off brand, defective, or dead cells will not be charged by the pila the same way. If a cell isn't charging correctly on the pila, the cell might be past it's useful life. Pila will not charge a cell that has to much internal...

    If you bump the pila charger it will usually stop charging. If the cells are below 4.10 volts, hit the reset button. It is very sensitive.

    The protection circuit, or PCB, would be fried when drawing 15amps, or would create to much resistance for an IMR to live up to it's potential. Protect your IMR cells from shorts if you want to use them. It is very important.
