    The 306 LR or any other atty with an exposed bridge is also a good option to DIP instead of DRIP. This is when you simply let the mesh of the bridge 'drink' from a pool of liquid for a bit (around 5 secs might do the trick). It may even work more consistently than dripping for newbies...

    Considering the OP and jazdale's idea is just to drip to try flavors, then, maybe the BEST way to go IMHO is to be: a fully de-wicked and de-bridged atty. Because it is EXCELENT to change flavors... It will never cause any flooding or clogging or whatsoever if you are gentle to it and ONLY...

    Yes; indeed... Debridged atties are meant for DRIPPING-purpose ONLY. And, direct-dripping or dry-smoking and auto-batts do NOT get on well. It is highly likely you will end up destroying your batt if direct-dripping for the very reasons you describe...
