    I let it come to room temperature - same with prescription drugs. There is always the possibility that the cold item could cause condensation. Sometimes, it doesn't matter. Sometimes it does.

    I've been known to add sliced tomato sandwiched between two slices of cheese. Gotta be careful, though. If an entire slice of tomato slithers into your mouth all at once, it can burn your lips.
