    I'd say make sure it's upside down when you fill it but it sounds like you have cracks or broken seals somewhere. When mine leaked it was thru the air hole.

    I used a couple coats of clear satin polyurethane over the acrylic paint on my brd. Probably better off with a few more coats but I am not having issues.Not very shiny, just clear, must be the satin.
