"Even when I'm willing to bet I'm the least knowledgeable in it ;)"
Nope I think I have you beat in that department! I'm scared to contribute to that convo at all, I'm just going to be a tiny tiny fly on the wall :)
But I do thank you guys for talking about this topic, and taking the time to...
Acetoin is structurally very similar to Diacetyl, and it's a known lung irritant. It's hard to find one article on Diacetyl (and there are a bazillion) where they don't include a warning on Acetoin as well. It's enough for this vaper:)...
ya in that last report linked you'll see it on page 4. I believe there were more recent studies performed in 2013, although i'm having a hard time finding it, so I can't be positive about that
I did find these clips from different articles/studies
Acetyl-
The alpha-diketone, 2,3-pentanedione...
"Also, i'm inhaling waaay more vapor than I ever did smoke" - me too, like waaaaaaaaay more!.
They were working with liquid and powder form, if I remember an article i read correctly, the liquid form was worse.
I hope none of us vapers ever get bronchiolitis obliterans, and that may very...
maybe this?
"I can't explain the levels to you, but I think the reason for concern in e-cigs VS regular cigarettes is because the diacetyl is inhaled in a different form. The popcorn factory workers, consumer cases, and scientific studies all point to the vapor as harmful when inhaled. The...
I sent a p.m to Dr Konstantinos on facebook regarding this.
He said the study has already been published. He also said no companies were mentioned.
I asked him if the press release was available to the public and he sent me this link-
Chemical hazards present in liquids and vapors of...
Mowgli if you go to post 597 on this thread, there is a link to another radio show that Dr K was on, it's that interview that he talks about Ethylene glycol.
You asked me if they were testing Chinese Flavourings, and I said no, as they were not testing Chinese flavourings, they were testing e-juice. It may be that the data was incorrectly interpreted, but I highly doubt that that it was all fabricated for fear mongering purposes.
that indeed is the unanswered question!
"FYI- In a flavoring that has less than 1% (.6%) diacetyl/similar, when used at a mere 2% in a juice, we'd be vaping 1200 ppb"
then corrected
"That should read: "we'd be vaping juice that contains 1200 ppb" - but that doesn't mean there'd be 1200ppb in...
" The popcorn workers were exposed to extremely high levels/concentrations of diacetyl, which was in every breath they took for as long as they were inside the plant (8-10 hour days), over a period of decades. "
or of a period of only a few months...
Passunca's recipes | dot1ml
So I definitely recognize some names in these recipes (HIC, we2rcool etc..) which makes it somewhat easy. Is there a way to maybe add PV or FA after their names so we know they are recipes from this thread, and recipes that only use FA?
ex- #headinclouds-PV...
oh no... i was away for a few days and I'm just catching up, I'm so sorry to see that wllmc is gone:( that's such a drag, and a bit crazy really? says the gal from Vancouver...
Are these bans just temporary?
I'm like the laziest DIY'er ever. I just buy 12mg 50/50 unflavoured nic juice and use the drop method. No measuring of pg/vg or nic. I'm happy with anything between 10mg-12mg so the flavour dilution isn't an issue.
Also, I'm loving whoever said this; "with 6 ml nic base, 1-drop equals .5%...
I hear you, I just put in an order for another 15 flavours at Pure Vapes, I think I have almost their entire line now, minus a few I can't imagine liking.
Are you guys mostly dripping when you make small batches like this? or are you forever cleaning clearos to change out flavours?
