    I believe eGo type batteries are regulated and have safety features built in. As long as your battery can handle your resistance load, you should be fine. As far as blowing up hands and burning down houses, you probably have a greater chance of getting struck by lightning on a sunny day.

    Are IMR batteries really necessary with a regulated mod?

    Never had any issues with my Orbtronic (Panasonic) protected batteries in the regulated mods I've tried. Also tried a protected battery in the Hana DNA 30 clone. No issues. If its a quality battery, the most I'd think would happen is you'd trip the PCB in the battery when cranking up the power...

    You won't find too many "authentics" in the sub $50 dollar range. The Nemesis (multiple variants) is probably one of the best clones made. Have 2 of them. Copper Nemesis perhaps.
